Hi...Just wondering if the staff at the kids clubs are equipped to deal with a child with special needs...My son has ADHD and Sensory Intergration Disorder...He is well behaved as long as he managed well..What are your thoughts on bringing him to a club for a couple of hours?

DH and I would like to have dinner alone...He will be with his brother and we will stay at the resort just in case.

Sorry I don't have any first hand advice for you. What I can say is that if you don't want to do the club, several people on this board have reported using in-room babysitting services for their kids with special needs. Hopefully someone else can chime in with better advice.

Thanks Mary....I did get feedback on another thread...A women with an ADHD child used the club and she said it worked out great...I think we might try it....But we would stay close by in case there is a problem...

Maybe there is some more advice out there?

My kids are a little more involved than yours, and we did both last year when they were 5 and 7. We used the Neverland club and Kids night out and were thrilled with both. To be honest, the SID and ADHD don't really look out of place at WDW anyway. All the kids are pretty ramped up and overstimmed. We made sure they could reach us just in case, but the kids loved neverland. The kids clubs are set up w/ different areas, so if one is overstimulating, they can just move somewhere else. I think it will be fine whichever you choose.

My son has ADHD (and at Disney sometimes he gets very hyper!). I don't medicate him on vacation, as it gives him a break to bring his appetite back up to normal.

We used Simba's Cubhouse one night for 3 hours when he was 6 (almost 7) and DD was 4. He did fine, and they also took care of his food allergies for his dinner. I left his medications and epipen papers with his care plan with them, and we stayed at the AKL for a dinner alone at Boma.

He did fine, and spent a good deal of time playing on their video game system. DD loved it - it is great for little kids! She was playing puppets with another little girl when it was time to go, and she didn't want to leave!

I think you would be fine, and we felt the same way about staying at the resort. We were so close, so we felt like if they needed us, we could be right back in a minute.

It wasn't cheap, but I thought the ladies working there were very good!

We took both of our kids to the Neverland Club at the Polynesian during our last trip. They both have Tourette Syndrome and ADHD. My daughter's is much more severe, but both were ticcing pretty severely while we were in WDW. I talked to the person that took our resevation and she assured me it would be no problem. When we arrived, I spoke with the person in charge to explain the noises and movements. They were great to work with and both kids had a great time. I would recommend this club. :)
