Has anyone used the kids club at The Beachclub? We're staying at OKW in a few weeks and were wondering about being able to drop our 5 and 7 year-olds there for the evening. I know there's also one at WL.
Costs? Times?

Thanks

I have wondered about this too. As a new member at BCV, this is something I might like to try.

BTW...is it just me, or does anyone else feel guilty when they think about arranging child care for their kids at Disney so you can go out for an adult meal :(

I felt a little guilty when I arranged for DD to stay at Neverland Club last October so DH and I could have an adult meal. Then the next day she BEGGED me to let her go back--so we did. They love the program, and its nice for the adults to do some adult events too.

go with the Neverland CLub - it gets the best reviews from the kids. this is at the Polynesian - at around 4:00 maybe before - they allow the parents/guardians to see the place -call the Polyn for the open hours - (you won't be allowed at night when you drop your children off)

I would also ask this question on the family board on this site.

I've never used the clubs, but will as soon as my littlest DS is over 4. I do know that the clubs charge $10 per hour for each child, with a minimum of 2 hours.

I may be purchasing BCV, but I do have some concern about the apparant lack of formal children's activities during the day (I do like the idea of the funky pool, though). Am I to gather that there are activities somewhere else in WDW proper during the day in which I can occasionally enroll my children ?

Other than a couple of activities at the GF, which don't run every day and only last 1 1/2 hours, there is no programming available during the day. You are free to hire a "nanny" for the day from one of the outside services servicing WDW. They will take your kids to the parks, etc what ever you want.

We stayed at the Polynesian this past December...the Neverland Club is open from noon until 4 p.m. for parent-supervised "free play." Children can play at the craft corner, watch movies (if they're showing one, which they were usually playing something whenever we went there), play with board games and other toys or play video games (at no charge). There are about five or six arcade games there.

My 9 year old DS has been using the WDW sponsored child care facilities since he was 5. He has been to the Poly, BCV and BWV's clubs and he rates the BCV club the best and Poly's a close runner up. He liked the BWV's but felt it was more for younger kids (less video & Nintendo games than the other 2.)

He looks forward to spending time in these clubs. He always meets new friends and loves the fact that the video games don't require any quarters to play. He used to refer to the clubs as the "no-quarter places."

The first couple of times we did feel a bit guilty, but we got over that when he specifically asked to go.

The teachers at the BCV club have been around for some time. We even recognized one of them the last time we were there in Nov.

As soon as my 19-month old DS is out of diapers, he will be at the club as well.

Go ahead, have some adult Disney fun for a change! :smooth:

Cost is $10/hour per child and the hours are 4:30-midnight. I think BC has a 4 hour maximum.

We have not used any of the kid's clubs yet because DS was not old enough (instead we used Fairy Godmothers - actually cheaper for 2 kids and if you want them to be asleep by the time you return not a bad alternative).

This year DS turns 4 so we will be trying the club! Also, DS's preschool teacher is moving to Orlando so hopefully she'll babysit one night. Guilty? Not me! Even with a sitter they've never met, my kids haven't minded - esp. if I let them order room service or go out for ice cream etc. I'm hoping they'll love the club and ask to go back

:)

We used the sandcastle club last month for our 6 yo DD and our friends 6yo Ds-- Both kids enjoyed it and wanted to go back again. They were ther for 5 hrs so I know there is not a 4 hr max. I would not hesitate to send my DD back again next trip home. Barb

We have tried both the Polynesian and VWL. Although, my 7yo enjoyed both I believe it is hands down that the Poly is the best way to go.

At the VWL there was a 4 hour min and it was $10 per child.

Our son also begged to go back. He has been to the club at the Dolphin and the Beach Club. When I asked him he told me he liked the one on the cruise the best. I told him that was not one of his choices for this poll. He said the Beach Club was better but he would be happy at either one.

Yes, the first time we left him I felt severely guilty. But of course he begged to go back. That lessened the maternal guilt. Afterall I figured after 6 days straight he must have needed a break from family togetherness. That said, I have called to check on him at least once every time we leave him.

They have very good staff! They are able to work with our son and he has mild cerebral palsy, ADHD (severe), Tourette Syndrome and is a high functioning autistic. They will not give medications but then I would not want them to anyway.

When we talk about WDW vacations, he always mentions the kids clubs. I really think he has as much fun there as we do at Pleasure Island. My only problem is that he is less mature than his contemporaries and will still want to go when he is too old!

My kids used the Sandcastle Club when they were 5 and 8. They loved it! They whined when it was time to leave, and asked if they could go back again the next day. No guilt at all, once I heard that. They are 7 and almost 10 now, and have already asked if they can go back on our next trip.

While the Neverland Club sounds nice, the convenience of going to the Sandcastle Club while having a steak and then heading over to Jellyrolls and a nice quiet walk along the beach while knowing you are still close if the pager goes off is a nice perk. The caring way the staff comes across is probably what is most important.

The drive or bus all the way over to the Poly just for a kids club when there is a very good one at the BC doesn't sound like a good use of the limited time away one has.

Are the kids clubs at BWV, BCV the only ones at DVC resorts? I know VB has a kids night out for kids four years and older. Does WLV have a kids club?

Yes, there is a Kids Club at WL. I think it's called the Cub's Den, or something like that. I've taken ds (8) there for craft time in the afternoon, but he hasn't stayed there yet - although we may put him there for a night later this month.

His favorite club is the Sandcastle Club at the Beach Club. He really enjoys his time in the clubs. It's a chance for him to get away by himself for a while. Also, he can play video games to his heart's content, and since I'm a "mean mommy", that is severely limited at home...

There is "Simba's" Clubhouse over at the AKL. MY DS 5yo, at the time, spent some time there last year, while DH and myself enjoyed Boma. He cried when we arrived to pick him up!!! He had a great meal, and was making a lion's mask when we showed up. Movies were showing in one corner, plenty of computers. But most of the kids were making masks.
