I wanted to share you this story and see if anybody else out there experienced anything similar.
We just got off the Fantasy (Dec 3rd). We had a problem with the Kids Club Magic Bands.
We purchased the band on our 2015 cruise and were told specifically at the time that they would work on cruises going forward. (as well as the WII) That was the main reason we bought it.
On this cruise we registered our son into the the club with the 2015 band. My son then checked-in successfully. But then issues erupted.
We got a call he couldn't check himself out. It seems his profile changed and he wasn't allowed check-in/check-out privileges any more. Why this happened we don't know. We had specifically confirmed this on check-in. This mix-up caused a lot of emotion with our son (he is 10). This caused him to avoid the club for most of the cruise. (And let me tell you we have had a whole year of convincing him to go more to the clubs, so mom and dad can have some parents time alone!)
When we finally persuaded him to return to the club, later in the week, he successfully checked in. My wife confirmed he had check-in/ check-out privileges. Then about 1 hour after check-in I see a message on the wave phone, dealing with my son in the club. I can't remember what it says now but the gist was my son was now registered.
Well I go down to the club to gather him for a show and I notice he now has 2 bands. 2015 on his lanyard and a 2016 band on his wrist. I ask about this. For now I am very upset. He has been to the club 2 times this cruise both times now a mix-up. The club attendant explains that he wasn't being seen on the "tracker". They couldn't monitor where he was while in the club, that the 2015 band was broken. I ask then how could this be since he checked-in with the band, but the attendant couldn't answer. I also asked how could you give me a new band which is a room charge since my son doesn't have chargeable privileges on his account and the attendant assured me if I return the band I wouldn't be charged. I explained that was my point of buying the 2015 band, no charges. Well the attendant had no answers and I left confused.
Later that day I went down to guest services to get some answers and this is what I was told. Previous bands only work for that cruise, they will never work going forward. Why I was told that they could work they couldn't confirm, but they said that the going forward info was incorrect. The band only works for that specific cruise.
So long story short, from what Guest Services told me, the band works for the 1 particular week then its a souvenir going forward.
Has anybody seen something similar or was I misinformed on the whole band idea?
