I will be on the Magic in March and in reading another post, I see that there are some concerns for the kids club (5-7) to be too young for an almost 8 year old. My DGD is in second grade and pretty old for her age. she won't be 8 until July. I hadn't really considered that she might be bored until I started doing some research. I have a DD12 who really disliked the clubs 3 years ago. I'm thinking that was due to her meeting another girl on board who wasn't going to the clubs. That was fine, but I'm hoping she'll give it another chance. Or she can hang with us, either way!

For those of you who have traveled with 7 and / or a 12 year old. What were your experiences? Did your children enjoy the lab / club? Were they allowed to move up? Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jenn

Hi, I have the same concern. My son will be three months shy of being eight years old and is in second grade. He is refusing to go to the clubs because he had been in the club when he was five and most of the activities look to be the same as before. I don't mind him being with us, but I want him to be able to have fun too! The 8-9 group look to be much more age appropiate for 2nd graders. Anyone have any opinions? :grouphug:

I too have a DS 7 year old who is a 2nd grader. Thsi will be his third time cruising with Disney and I was planning on asking them to move him up with the 8 year olds...curious to see what others thoughts are?

Thanks

On our last cruise my son was 3 1/2 months short of his 8th birthday. We felt the younger group would not hold his attention. We spoke to a staff member at the club. He said they would allow him to join the older group. They said they would monitor him and as long as he seemed to handle the situation he could stay. They told us this a very common request and was no problem. He did fine. I would recommend that you speak to the staff and follow thier advise. It worked out great for us. Hope you have a great cruise!!! :jumping4:
