My son will have just turned 8 the week before our cruise. Will they let him go in the club for the 5-7 year olds? I'm not sure I want him with the older kids plus a friend of ours is going and their DD is 7 1/2. Anyone done this before?

It seems like most of the time...they will let kids who are that close to the cut off ages in the other club. Since your son will only be 8 for one week prior to going..I don't think you'll run into any problems having him in the club rather than the lab. One thing we found out on our recent cruise was...they allow kids to move from one club to the other ONE time and one time only...they are not allowed to hop from one to the other day after day. And moving down in age group is MUCH easer than moving up. They allowed our 11 yo daughter stay with her 6yo sister in the club...and said she was welcome to be in that age group if she prefered...of course she didn't...but anyhow...I don't think you'll have any problems.

You won't have a problem bumping him down to the 5-7 group at all. But my advice....if your friends DD is 7 1/2, try to bump her up to the 8-9-if it is not too full, they will probably let her.

My DS who is 6 was becoming bored with the 5-7 group this year...the 8-9 has the best activities in my opinion...and I have had my kids in the 5-7,8-9,10-12 and teen club. It seems to me that 8-9 is the ripe age, their navigator is packed with cool stuff!
