Kids Camera Question

We were out shopping picking up a few last minute things for our trip 2nd week of June tonight. The kids would like to take thier own pictures this trip, so we had been thinking about getting a few disposable cameras for the kids to use and take pictures from thier own viewpoint. While we were at Walmart the kids spotted a digital camera with interchangeable faceplates and has memory which can take up to 120 pictures I think it said. it then can be downloaded from the camera to your computer and has the software and cords to do it with. Its called the Cyper Pix camera by Cyber Gear. Does anyone have any experience with this camera/?? I figured if we got the disposable, we would buy 2 cameras at least for each child, plus the developing would end up being close to 20.00. This Cyber Gear camera sells for 19.96 and then can be used over and over again, so would be useful for more than this trip. I just dont want to buy the camera and then have the pictures turn out awful or blurry or unrecognizable. Any imput would be greatly apprecieated.

I looked at that camera for my 4 yr old since he loves to take pics but was using my expensive cameras. I ended up giving him one of my old Sony's that I dont use anymore. The camera your looking at doesnt have a viewing screen on the back, therefore, I dont know if you can view the pics you shoot without hooking it up to a computer (or maybe a tv??). 120 pics may seem like a lot, but if like my son who shoots everything, he would fill it up fast. Without being able to view the pics, you cant delete them to make more room (which I consider the best selling point of digital vs film cameras). The shot quality is not very good (I think its either 1 or less megapixels). I dont even know if theres a flash (a must for night shots, indoor and backlit subjects). But for $20, it might be what you want. Check out epinions for reviews (I think thats where I read them) or do a search on the web.

Just a thought: I bought disposables for the kids on our last few trips, and kept one for myself in case the digital camera needed batteries or whatever. It turned out that my disposable came out of my fanny pack on RNRC and the CM there said most cameras smash on impact (it was never recovered). I'm glad it happened to the disposable!! So the digital is only $20; it may not be a great loss compared to a disposable, but it's still something to think about.

I've read a lot of reviews on digital cameras for my daughter, and all the reviews of anything under about $70 have been horrible, and/or there is no flash or removable memory. I went the route of buying three disposable film cameras that developing is included in the price, as are digital files for the prints. They were about $7 each at the grocery store on sale.

I just have to agree and say that there is a huge hole in the market on this - my DS is almost 2.5 and is just enthralled with cameras and pictures. I figured surely someone would make a tough and simple digital camera for small fingers - I've come up empty handed so far. We've given him a couple of disposable cameras, but the way he takes pictures it is so not cost-effective to even develop them. With our supervision and help we do a few digital pics with him, but I'd love to let him have his own camera. We have a Video Now Jr. for him - it has a big chunky case that is not easily opened and a very few and simple buttons - exactly the features I would love to see on a decent digital camera for kids (also on my wish list would be a standard storage media and an LCD screen along with a price point under $100).
