Kids book downloads?

Does anyone know a cheap, or even better, free place to download children's books from? I want to burn some onto a cd for my 4yo to listen to in his bed at night.

If you are looking for older, more classic books, librivox has many audio recordings available free of charge. I have too few posts to actually post a link but just search for librivox. You will have to look through their list of available recordings to see if there is anything that would appeal to your child. I have listened to most of the Wizard of OZ series from their readers and they are quite good. All the reading is done by volunteers and they only do books that are out of copyright so they can keep the downloads free.

How about you? I make my own children's recorded books, by recording them myself in .wma format and downloading them onto an MP3 player. My kids like hearing the stories in their parents' voices and having the paper versions to follow along in if they want.

I wouldn't do something like Harry Potter myself, but for little kids' books this works quite well. It's especially good for air travel.
