Tell me what you did to celebrate your kids birthday at Disneyland to make it really special. Also... did you take gifts to unwrap and pack them back home (We'll be flying so it doesnt sound too good) or did you wait until your return?

Our Details:
Turning 8 year old girl who doesnt worship Princesses. She likes them ok, but not a huge fan. More of a Stitch, Herbie, Mickey kind of kid. Her big love is horses, but I dont expect to work horses into it. Plus we have horses, so visiting a ranch or whatever wouldnt be a big deal for her...

If they still have the Lilo and Stitch breakfast, we'll deffo do that. But what else is there to make a birthday Disney Special?

any ideas?
THANK YOU!

You sound as if you are describing my daughter, but she is turning 9!!! We are going to get her the Mickey Birthday Bucket at either Goofy's Kitchen or Storyteller's Breakfast (she is a Chip and Dale fan).

We are eating at Blue Bayou for lunch one day and the CM told me to make sure to mention it there...she made a real point of saying this. Don't know if it means anything, but I'm going to mention it anyway and see if any magic happens.

Are you staying onsite? If so, call guest relations at 714-300-7526 and they can help you arrange something special. There are also many choices from room service at the DLR hotels including a balloon bouquet.

I am also going to get her a Birthday Pin at City Hall while we are there...I am not expecting anything special to come our way because of it, but thought it would be nice to have.

I am sure others will have wonderful suggestions as well.

Have Fun!

Birthday button at City Hall is a must do!! All the CMs will say happy Bday to her and may even let her do something special (like be the person chosen to pull the sword put of the stone in front of the carrousel). She may get a free bag of tortillas in DCA, Blue Bayou I think it's a free slice of cake and a song.

I believe you can ask for a birthday phone call at City Hall, they have a very elegant old fashioned phone on the counter, it rings, child picks up and Goofy says Happy Birthday.

Goofy's Kitchen is fun any time , for birthdays you can pay a bit extra and get a bag with some toys and other thing in it.

Some restaurants have birthday buckets (about $20) with a little cake, pin, toys/mini plush inside.

There is a birthday party with Pat E Cake. $10 a person, each person gets a little cake, cups of frostings and sprinkles. Pat E Cake interacts with guests and at the end you have a personal meet and greet with Mickey and Minnie.

If staying at a Disney owned hotel diffinitely call up Travel Planning. They can leave autographed pics of her favorite character in the room (free). You can order various gift baskets, special snacks (milk and cookies at bedtime, rice krispie ears ), or even have ears made up and ready for her upon check in(fees of the cost of materials plus a little extra for service).

Have fun!!

On our last December DL trip, we left on my DS8's birthday... Before we left, we had a small party at home with him complete with cake and presents. My family was very kind and gave him some disney $$ to spend as he wanted... When we arrived at the DLH, the front desk had a birthday button for him and later on that day, balloons and autographed an picture of buzz and woody were delivered to the room (without even asking)... We had PS reservations already made for Goofy's Kitchen and they had the birthday bag with balloons waiting on the table (we pre-arranged that). It was a really special day. CM's at both parks wished him Happy Birthday and he had a wonderful day not to mention a great trip too!!

We did that Pat E. Cake birthday party at the Plaza Inn for my daugter's 8th birthday. She really loved it, it was fun for everyone to make their own little cake and Mickey and Minnie do generally make an appearance at the end (pictures, no autographs). I think the $10 per person is very reasonable being as each person gets their cake plus a plastic cup (that you can keep) of punch the cm's will refill as much as you like. In Disney terms, its a bargain! And no princesses.

I also recommend a character meal, both Goofy's and the Lilo and Stitch one are very fun. We did both of those during my daughter's birthday trip. She also enjoyed the Plaza Inn Minnie and Friend's breakfast another trip. My daughter still has the birthday bucket she got at Goofy's, she keeps her little itty bitty Polly Pocket stuff in there!

Disneyland is a great place to celebrate a birthday!
