Kids' BackPacks for On The Plane

I just bought my kids two backpacks - I got my DD a Minnie Mouse one and my DS a Power Rangers one. I want to pack them with activities and snacks for on the plane to MCO. Any suggestions? DD will be 2 when we go and DS will be almost 4.

I know I'll use juice boxes, peanut butter crackers, goldfish, etc. but I'm looking for any ideas or suggestions. I don't want the packs to be too heavy b/c I would like the kids to 'wear' them - but I know DH and I will end up with them somehow.

Your kids should be OK if you keep the backpacks light enough. Perhaps the heavier items, like juice boxes, can be carried by you or dh? Would these backpacks be your kids' official carry-ons?

My plan is to have ds use a backpack as his carry-on and a small bag for his "personal item" for snacks, a book, etc.

Dd will have a little regular carry-on that she pulls (it's kid sized, so I'm sure it meets the size requirement) and I'm hoping she'll be allowed to use a backpack as her personal item. Do you think this would be OK? Or is a kid-sized backpack too big for a personal item?

I'm traveling alone with my kids and I hope to use a backpack as a carry-on. It meets the size requirements, so I'm hoping it's OK I have a small Mickey handbag I hope to use as my personal item.

I have not flown in more than a decade, and am having a hard time grasping all of the changes in security and regulations since the last time I boarded a plane.

Since you have the food items covered I will offer some suggestions for things to keep them occupied on the plane. A new coloring book and crayons, possibly a small dry erase board, they have lots of small hand held travel size games at walmart that may do the trick for you. How long is your flight? The Disney Guide Book "For Kids By Kids" may be something fun for your DS. It has lots of pictures of the rides. Have a wonderful trip.
