We have a few free nights planned for our june trip and we're thinking of taking the kids(ages 8-17) to The Comedy Club and possibly the Country Western club(if it's still open) before 9pm on a Sunday night. Is this appropriate? Are there other families in the clubs at these times? I know the official policy is kids are allowed with a parent but I won't bring them if they're the only kids.TIA

I went to PI last May. Didn't see many, if any, children.

We saw lots of kids of all ages when we were there in July before 9:00. If you stick to the early shows you should be fine.
BTW, I dont think they still have the country western club.

Kids are welcome, they just won't be able to go into all the clubs due to age restrictions.

Motion 18+ ONLY
BET & Mannequins 18+, 21+ Thur - Sat

Rest of the clubs are ok under 18 as long as they're with someone 21+

Wildhorse is indeed gone. It's Motion now

We just got back and after reading many reports I have wanted to try the Comedy Warehouse Club for sometime. I took my 12 yr. old dd for the first (8:15) show. There were some a bit younger and older of course. My daugher loved it. She got in on the action yelling out words to fill in their blanks (and she can be shy sometimes). She said that it was way, way too short though.

My DD, age 8 at the time LOVED the comedy club. She thought it was in her top 10 at WDW. We went to the earlier shows, and she wanted to see 3 sets back to back. It was very age appropriate during the earlier hours on a weekday.

My 17 yo DS I wouldn't hesitate to take later.

They both enjoyed the adventurers' club, again early in the evening for DD.

We`re going in September with a 12 year old. I`m sure she`d like the Comedy Club, but she`s really into music and dancing. Would the Beach Club be an appropriate place to take her? Maybe we`ll get lucky and there will be a band on the West End Stage. Frankie and The West End Boys are the BEST cover band I`ve ever heard. :music: :dancer:

While I enjoy PI and consider myself a fairly permissive parent, I would not take my children (12, 4, 2.5) there. It is really geared to the enjoyment of parks. The subject matter when I've visited CC and AC has not been appropriate for kids. As a guest, it would make me feel funny to have a child sitting next to me in one of these venues! Also, remember that alcohol is served just about everywhere; so you'll see a fair number of drunks -- even early in the evening. Also, while several of you have posted that you've seen children in CC and AC, I never have. During our visit this past fall, neither dh nor I can remember seeing kids even on the streets of PI. Personally, I plan on going to PI without my children. It will be much more fun!

While nobody will stop you from taking your children to PI, it is intended to be an adult experience. You should consider carefully what type of atmosphere your want your children exposed to. Keep in mind that a lot of "adults" overdo the party atmosphere there and there is a fair amount of drinking going on.

We took our 3 kids on a Friday night around 7 or 8 pm. We had one of the dance clubs ( the beach one?) to ourselves for the first hour. My kids are 11, 8, and 6. The d.j. played and gave them hula hoops and big sunglasses. They had an awesome time. We danced and danced.

thanks for the input all... we were hoping to visit the comedy club w/the kids (8.5 and 10.5) and i think we'll play it by ear... i would love to go back to the adventurer's club as well... how is that for kids?

also, are kids permitted in jellyrolls? my dd is a piano fanatic and i am sure she would just love it!

It's too bad that Pleasure Island isn't a little more kid friendly during the day, I think it would be nice for the younger kids to go have a place to dance, hang out and just have a fun time. Plus it would be nice for us single parents that would like to feel like we are having fun 'out', I don't exactly want to get a babysitter so I can go to Pleasure Island ALONE at night. It really gets old being alone all the time.

Jellyrolls is strictly 21+.

This gets debated a lot, and there are strong opinions on both sides.
Again from our experience, in August in 2003, we ended up going 3 times when it opened at 7. The place was dead, except for a few other families. My DD 8 and daddy got to dance together in one of the clubs--disco ball?? They were the only one not only on the floor but in the building, and the DJ played a song about daddies and daughters. It was magical. I counted at least 15 other children in CC.

Now, the humor was a bit ribald. If you don't let your kids watch the Simpsons and keep them from PG13 movies, then you probably would not be comfortable. But it was not explicit, and we felt we were there in an appropriate time frame. One of the CMs in Adventurers Club told me they regard 9 pm as the witching hour, at which point they make pointed statements designed to persuade parents it's time to exit stage left with the kids.

One night when we were in the AC there was alittle boy about 8 or so with his parents. I felt a little sorry for him - he was the only kid in the whole place and he looked so sad. I think it should be up to the parents but I know my son would have lots more fun at the Neverland Club !

This is a really hot topic on these boards, but I'll say this. You know your kids better than anyone. If you don't think it's a big deal then take them. When DH and I were there in 2003, we saw all kinds of kids, even some in strollers! I thought that was a bit young, but that's MHO :)
We're planning on taking our girls when we go in May, they'll be almost 10 and 12. They love dancing, so I figured we'd go early before it gets too busy, and go to the Rock N Roll Beach Club, and maybe 8 Trax. They do have video games in the RnR Beach Club, so it gives off a more family friendly vibe. If I think people are getting out of hand at PI, we'll leave. :flower:

Personally speaking, I'm not comfortable with seeing children at PI. With clubs that will have jokes with hidden innuendos and open drinking, etc...it's obvious it's an adult oriented environment, in which case I feel parents should keep that in mind when it comes to children. I just don't feel it appropriate for children. There are plenty of children focused & family focused things to do without involving an adult-oriented atmosphere. But again, this is just my personal opinion.

Mary - I generally agree with you, but after 10:00.

My personal opinion is that I wouldn't bring my "young" kids there after 10-10:30'ish...

I totally agree. I actually wish PI had an age limit after a certain hour.

Does anyone know what are the times of the comedy warehouse shows? If I read correctly, the early show is 8:15p, and the late show is.... ?
