We are leaving for our 4th WDW vacation in a few days:cool1: and after months of planning and planning we will soon be there.

The children had me worried. I had figured they would all be as excited as I was when we booked in february....nope it was just another vacation that seemed pretty far awway to them. I felt a little disappointed because every time I shared new info I had read on these wonderful boards, they were not really excited at all. Kind of made me question myself as to why I was spending big $$$ for them in the first place when I could have went twice with DH alone!

So I started telling them in May that they better enjoy this vacation because the next one will be a couples' trip i Dec. 2006. My youngest was a little outraged, and my oldest figured we may need couples' time.

Well happy to report the suitcases have come out of the closet andd the excitement is FINALLY building up for them. ( I was getting anxious that they were taking their trip for granted) I am so happy that they are getting to see how long the days keep dragging by. Youngest DD is so ooking forward to the waterparks...

Has any of your kids reacted the same way? I just don't want my kids to become over indulged and think going to WDW is no big deal cause we go a little more often than other families we know. They are incredibaly luucky and I keep telling them this. I think and hope it is finally sinking in.

My kids are a little miffed I am making them miss 2 1/2 days of school in November. Go figure. I thought they would be ecstatic about the trip from the get go! I am soooooooooooooooooooooooo excited to be going back that I am more than making up for their luke warm enthusiasm. ;)

The excitement will build I know when it draws closer!

My kids are just the opposite. When we were making reservations I had to continually remind them to settle down because we were on the phone with Disney. Our morning routine is to pull another link from the Disney chain and record our ride choices for the day. Our car rides are filled with the Disney Game. (I'm a ride, I'm at the MK....) Our van is now loaded with the last 4 years Vacation Planning Guide so that each kid can have a book while Mom looks through one. We can hardly wait.

my dd's (12,10,10) are not nearly as excited as I am. I've come to realize though, its because I completely obsess about planning every vacation. They are also somewhat jaded because we have been very fortunate to have taken three "trips of a life time" in the last three summers (Seattle/pacific northwest; England/France; Hawaii). This summer we don't have any big trips planned, and then because of an unusually late start for school we were able to plan a week in Tampa and WDW the beginning of September. They just think I'm nuts with all my research, but when I mention specific rides or water parks they do get excited. I remind them constantly how lucky they are, so by now I think they just nod pleasantly and just let it go!
