arrrrgggggg why is it that 12 yaer olds think after the phone rings 6 times,, i'll hang up and call right back ??? is it some magical way to get ppl to answer? isd it just a really good way to agraveate other kids parrents? whyyyyyyyyyy ( dd has use of my fax line when ever i am not useing it to send or expecting to recieve),, shes at movies now,, her phone has rang non stop for 15 min at a time every ten min since i got here , twice so far i answered it and told this kid she wasnt here.. its the same kid :)
hes about to get on my nerves. it was only 15 min after i told him the first time she was at movies that he called back is she home yet? geezzzzzzzz about to rip out her phone,, its ringing for second time since i started typingf this post::mad:  :bounce:

We have a second line in our house that DS uses. We gave him an answering machine for Christmas. Solved the problem you are having.

this child,, who has now called 2 more times and is talking to me not a amachine,, is just agravtaing me. he knows i'm here and that i go answer the darn phones,, i cant stand a ring ing phone,,

Can you turn off the ringer so it just rings endlessly on their end. Or just take it off the hook? My DS11 has a girl (yes a girl they get younger every year - or maybe I am getting old) who will call for him every 10 min if we don't answer. I love caller ID. She called the other night (school night) at 9:30. HELLO they are in 5th grade. If she keeps up this stalking I am going to block yer number from my phone.

SO I can feel you pain.

dd's 12,, this kid that is bugging me is 11,, i've tryed turning off ringer, but with my tending to forgfet lil things after the wreck,, i'ld forget to turn it back on for her, if its off hook it causes the fax machine to start trying to figure whats up,,, i took it and put her phone in bathroom out of ear shot for now:) just irking me that this one kid cnt seem to understand that i will tell her he called:) geessss

my brother is almost 18...they still do this...the girls will call--ill tell them he is out for the day, i will tell him to call them..then 1 hour later, they call back

If she is calling that much, perhaps you need to call her parents and have a frank discussion with them.

my problem is litle boys calling my daughter ..lol... the lil snot is such a brat,, she came in and asked me first thing did i have anycalls?? can you believe it.,. shes 12:)

I would disconnect the plug in the back of the phone. Problem solved. Not to mention that DS will not have his own line!

What really bugs me is when I am on the phone and friends 'beep' in (we have call waiting). If the call is for one of the kids, I normally will not pick it up. The call is then forwarded to voice mail. Then, the same person will call back again! :earseek: Hello? Didn't you get the message?? Once, the same person beeped in 4 times in a row! I finally put my call on hold and literally yelled into the phone "They are not able to come to the phone...now don't call back!!" :earseek:

Skip the parents. Answer the phone and sternly tell the kid to stop calling and irritating you.

A few years ago early in the morning I had a kid that is a known problem at my door. My kids have been told never to answer the door when I'm in the shower (thanks to a Schwann man that no longer has that job. ) This kid rang the doorbell every few seconds until a 1/2 hour later when I was dressed and I yanked the door open and told him never to touch my doorbell again. The kid replied "Oh I didnt think anyone was home" That really jerked my chain since my dog was obviously in the house and barking like crazy.

Another vote for call the parents and complain. I've had to do that with a couple of the kids friends. I basically say "Do you realize that little xxxx is calling our house every 10 minutes, even when I've told them that yyy isn't home?"

My kids have strict phone rules. No calling after 8:30 pm. If the don't get an answer, they can leave a message, but NOT call back! And if I catch them being rude on the phone (either to a sibling of the kids they're calling, or the parents), they lose phone privileges. It does surprise me how many people don't set down rules for kid's phone use.

One night, at 10:50 PM, on a school night no less, a friend of my son's called. :earseek: We ALL were sound asleep! I, not so politely, told him we do not accept calls after 9 pm! Where the heck were this boys parents? Don't they know that not only is their son up way later than he should be on a school night, but he was using the phone at that late hour!!

It's not just 12 yo's that do that.:teeth: My 7 yo ds has a little girl that calls him all the time (she's 9 yo). Some days she hangs up the phone and calls right back when we tell him he's not there. And she'll do this for hours. If she gets the answering machine, she hangs up most of the time. Last nigth she called him and just as soon as he got the phone, she asked him to give the phone to my dd, she was too embarrassed to do anything but ask to hear him say hello.:p My 11 yo dd's friends call constantly like that sometimes too. We had a call at almost midnight one day last week and I had told the little girl around 6 that evening my dd wouldn't be home until the next day. Her clock must've said a minute after midnight or something.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem! I think the same thing-where are their parents when they are being this annoying?!
