Does anyone have any advice on how to lessen the urge to kill one self or buy the next plane ticket to Tahiti?????? :furious: :furious: :furious:

No. My kids are killing each other one minute and defending each other the next when I decide who did what. Sometimes I just throw up my hands and go lock myself in my room...............other times I send them to their rooms with the instructions to "find something to do in there with the door closed"..........that's usually good for 15 minutes. Reading stories gets me another 15 minutes or so of peace, and if I read each child their own, it gets me 30, but then my mouth is pretty dry!

Cooking with them gives me about 30 minutes of peace, too.

But there are still about 10 more hours of the day!

I used to love The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, because it was like kid opium. They'd both just sit the whole episode. Now they have watched enough of it that it doesn't hold the same attention anymore.

Do what I did and ship them off to relatives for a couple of weeks. :teeth:

LOL! My kids are gone longer now than when they're in school.

They go to Rec at the park up the street from 9-12, home for lunch and then back up there from 1-4. Started the end of June.
I kinda miss them, but they loooove it! I have to convince them to skip a morning if we need to so something(it's free so it doesn't matter if they go every day/half day/not at all).

However, it ends August 4th, so I have a month of bickering kids to look forward to between then and the first day of school..

I plan on going to the library a lot-they have older kid story times once a week and a movie every Friday afternoon.

OK, if I don't come back to this thread, it's because I'm unclogging the sink (can't wait to see what they put in there) and cleaning up a huge mess made by my lovely kids.

I have a 15 & 11 y/o - both boys.

Initially when they chose to stay up until dawn playing video games, I questioned it.

Then I realized "Im sleeping through their bickering!"

They sleep while Im at work, I sleep while theyre up all night. It's working out quite well. ;)

It's 2pm here, and theyre still asleep. :thumbsup2

Notice my ticker????? I am at my wits end with DD11. She will be lucky to see the start of school at the rate she is going. Between her mouth and attitude...

2 words-SUMMER CAMP!
Next week my daughter starts ice skating camp from 830-330 so that will keep her plenty busy.

Anyone have a greater appreciation for teachers now? :rotfl: :rotfl: What you are describing is my day Mon-Fri from Aug-June. Only I have 20 'kids' :rotfl: :rotfl:

My deepest sympathies!! I know how you feel :)

It always amazes me how parents think their child can do nothing wrong when the teacher complains about behavior or the child gets suspended, but then summer comes and the parents either find camps for the kids to be away somewhere or complain about their behavior.

I love my boys dearly and really do enjoy having them home for the summer, but holy cow, there are some days that they drive me insane! They are not little kids either, they are 15 and 16 years old! For some strange reason, I thought they would have outgrown the bickering by now. Well, they may both be a head taller than me, but I can still send them to their rooms! Ha! :teeth:

We have discovered the beauty of the sprinkler. :cool1: Children, hot weather and water are a lovely combination. Gets them out there and if they bicker I can't hear them because I am in the air conditioned house with the windows shut. :rotfl:

You should try story tapes for your youngest. My two are in the living room listening to their third story in a row. So, it's kind of reading but I can be on the DIS. What a deal. The oldest is reading in her room.

Amen to that!

Last summer was really hard for me, and my kids are young, they had just finished all day prek and were on summer vacation before all day kindergarten started.

I decided last year that this year they would be in summer camp!!

So they all have different things they're doing this summer and they're out of the house in the mornings and already this summer has been drastically different!
