How much "spending" or "playing" money would you give to a 6 and 10 year old?

Also, how much would you budget on food, just like counter "quick" service meals a day? It will be a family of 4 for 5 nights and 6 days.

Thanks

When my children were younger, they each got $25 to spend on the last day. BUT, I told them I would double whatever cash they brought home, in order to discourage them from spending it all just because they had it. They became much more selective about what they bought.

You may need to help direct the 6yo in making purchases but $25 doesn't go very far when they want every pin on the rack or multiple plush Mickey's.

being that disney is so expensive my 8 and 10 yr old will have
about $50 each to spend, grandma gives them some of this as
well as them earning it doing chores and helping with yard work.

they usually only end up with two really nice things or three smaller items. the items they like run from $15 - $30 for some
shirts.

My kids have been saving money since Christmas and they saved $400.00 between birthday money and chores and extra change. They wanted to stay at PC instead of Port Orleans and because there is 5 of us it costs $200 more to stay at POR than PC so they put in the $200 difference. My DD got $142 for her birthday so now my 2 DS's get to split the rest of the savings money. So in the end they will each have about $110 dollars a piece.

My DD's (4 & 18 months) received Disney Dollars for Christmas & their birthday and they received about $200 each. So what we have done in the past & what we will do this time is divide it up among the days we are there. That comes to $20 per day. So they will pay for anything they want (balloons, etc..).

Last trip when DD was only 2 somedays all she wanted was a $2 shovel & bucket at Typhoon lagoon. I would just carry that money over to the next day. Well by the end of the trip she had enough leftover money to get her Halloween Costume for the fall. So it ended saving me from having to purchase it a month later, and she was able to pick exactly what she wanted (Minnie Mouse).

So this has always worked as a painless way for us to provide spending money, Grandmas, Grandpas, Uncles & Aunts did not mind giving them a small toy and a few Disney Dollars. They actually thought it was a great idea.

Oh I forgot to add my stepson has a job now, so he provides his own money.

my kids (all 5 of them ) got $50.00 in disney dollars in their easter eggs this year at easter. My kids all get a choice for there bday either a party or $150 to spend..(.they always choose the money)
since it will be my daughter and my stepdaughters bdays when we go they will have their bday money. So we told the kids they could spend their money now or save it until we go however we didnt want any complaining about how DD's, both got more money than them. they have all saved it except to buy one of those $10.00 35mm camera and a 4 pack of film to take pictures(since im a photographer, they all tend to get really into that)
So they will all have about $175.00 to spend each!

I must be a mean mom because on past trips I have only given them $25 - $50 to spend. They don't need a lot of junk. But they are a little older (8 and 12) and are more interested in riding Space Mountain than shopping for trinkets. On our last trip my older DD bought a Tshirt and my younger DD bought a Mulan Barbie doll.

I do, however, buy them Mickey bars, Dole Whips, etc. out of our food budget. I also bring light sticks, new T-shirts from Disney store that I got on sale, etc. Also, I brought with us a dozen pins each that I bought on clearance at the Disney store.

My DD (6) gets Disney Dollars for EVERYTHING! She gets half her allowance in disney $, Santa puts them in her stocking, the Easter Bunny puts them in her eggs (she doesn't eat candy - her choice  ) & she gets them for "extras". My mom also sends her cards 2 or 3 times a month & she will put a few in each card (DD LOVES getting mail). She normally has enough to spend about $10 - $15 a day. Usually she buys pins, but sometimes she will want something bigger so we combine days.

I know I'm a little extravagant (sp?) with the Disney Dollars, but I'd rather her have more of her own to spend than ask us for money constantly. For our trip in June (that she doesn't even know about!), we've saved about $120 in Disney Dollars. I'll probably only take half of that & put the rest in her savings for the August trip.

For my kids it usually works out to be about $20 per day. They accumulate disney dollars throughout the year for chores, good report cards, birthdays, christmas etc. They use this money on the trip for anything they want to buy... souvenirs, treats like ice cream or popcorn. They begin the trip with one fairly empty carryon bag. Anything they buy has to fit in that bag for the trip home. This has always worked for us. They make great choices and we never have those "discussions" in stores like...Mommy can I PLEASE have one more thing?!?.!
