Hi. This is our first trip to Disney and I was wondering if you were allowed to bring your child (5 yrs old) to pleasure island and if so, is that something you would do. Should we just skip it and do other things with her?
Everyone tells me "you have to go to pleasure island" but I dont know if this is something we could do with her.

Thanks

I don't know that I would take a 5yo there. It seems I read that children were not allowed at night. Sorry I know I am not much help. Maybe someone else knows.

I think you can take her in the daytime but I'm not so sure about the night. Even if you could, I wouldn't take a child there in the evening.

You CAN take any aged child into Pleasure Island at any time.

Whether you SHOULD or not has been the subject of many "discussions" on this board.

You have to decide your comfort in taking a 5 year old into an adult nighttime atmosphere.

Good Luck! :)

Disney has several child care options available for a child of 5yrs old. They have the "clubs" you can take your child too. Many diser's have had wonderful things to say about them. They also have referrals for in room babysitting services.

Ultimately, it is your decision to bring your child or not. However, the area is essentially a nightlife scene geared more towards adults.

You can, technicallly, but please consider it carefully.

Its the one place at WDW that is geared for adults, essentially a section of night clubs fairly close to DTD. In the past you paid admission to PI and this gave you access to all the clubs, now you pay only if you choose to go into the clubs. They offer several types of clubs, disco dancing, country western dancing, comedy and such - I can't recall exactly how many. My experience in the Adventurers Club and Comedy Warehouse was wonderful but some of the language and references made me blush!

In addition the outside vendors sell alcohol even such things as jello shots and some really cool looking drinks that had steam and smoke. They do have outside entertainment on a stage or two and you most likely will see some "adut" behavior and some obviously drunk people outside as well as in the clubs.

My rule of thumb is if you wouldn't bring your 5yo out for a night of dancing, clubbing and bars at home you probably won't be comfortable bringing her to PI.

If you really want to see PI, consider checking into the kids clubs, my girls love them. DH and I take one night for ourselves if the vacation is long enough and the girls find it a treat to have a night for themselves. They ask every trip if they can "have a kids night" and visit a kids club.

If not, maybe a trip to DTD in early evening for dinner and shopping. This wasy you can take a peek into PI before it gets too rowdy so you can decide if it's something your ok with or want to do enough to schedule for a future trip or do the kids club.

Have a great trip.

My wife and I visit PI everytime we visit. IMO I wouldn't bring a child there in the evening when the clubs are open. I've run into a few problems with drunk people acting like morons. Unfortunately people don't always make the best decisions when they are drunk and I wouldn't expose a child to it. :smooth:

As stated above, Children are allowed in PI with a parent or guardian.

We went over the summer with our kids( 4 & 7), and Grandma. We left fairly early (before 9:30) as we just wanted to take a walk around and check out how the new ungated policy was working. In the time we were there( under 1 1/2 hours) we saw many children of all ages walking around with their parents. Some were in carriages and we even saw 2 different women carrying baby bottles.

IMO, there was nothing there at that time that children wouldnt see anywhere else, but I cant speak for later in the night. And while it wasnt the highlight of the trip for the kids, they really enjoyed the music, lights(DS was chasing them), and just checking out a new place. We also noticed many of the other kids dancing around and having fun and didnt observe any in poor spirits.

It is permitted to bring children of any age into any PI clubs except Mannequins or BET Soundstage, which have age limitations.

Admission for children is the same price as admission for adults.

Personally I wouldn't bring kids under the age of, say, 13, but I don't have any kids and it's not my business what anyone else decides.

If you're thinking about the midnight fireworks... be advised they only last 26 seconds.

I appreciate all of the input. It does not sound like somewhere we would take our daughter. I hadnt researched Pleasure Island yet so I really wasnt sure what all there was to it.
It sounds like alot of fun for adults but since we will only be at Disney for 4 or 5 days, I think we will stick together and just enjoy everything else Disney has to offer.

Thanks again for your responses

I wouldn't take my kids, but if you really have to, DON'T go on a Thurs or a Sun. Both are cast nights and PI gets VERY full with some VERY DRUNK people.
