I replied to someone one on the snorkeling thread that I thought Kids where allowed two Carry Ons same as adults, even if they wheren't technically 'carrying' them. Is this a correct assumption or is my theory wrong? I know this worked for us when my son was 2 and we flew to WDW and when we cruised a few years ago, but that was pre 9/11. Is it a carry on only if you are the one physically carrying it or is it 2 carry ons per person in the group?

I assumed this since they get two checked peices of luggage just like us. At least there are 2 luggage tags in my DS's docs just like ours.

No I'm not trying to get all of our luggage in as carry ons, but I have a laptop computer and a camera bag, the wife has a makeup bag and the change of luggage bag so we need at least one more carry on for the son's electronics from the car ride from Virginia. I'll probably get his a wheeled carry on and make him lug it but....

As long as your DS is a ticketed passenger, then he is allotted the same checked and carry-on luggage as everyone else.

edit: luggage restrictions vary by airline, so be sure to check with your carrier beforehand.

When did DCL start to limit your carry-on bags to 2 a piece? I know we usually carry on more than 2 a piece because we take sodas and water with us. We split them up so each bag isn't so heavy to carry.

Wow how big is her makeup bag??!! It wouldn't fit into the small luggage bag or just get checked instead of carrying it on??

Not DCL the airlines.
You may carry as much luggage aboard as you'd like jilljill
The OP is talking about carry on bags for DCL, they said they are driving from VA.

We made a list of things we'd do differently next time, and one thing we wholeheartedly agreed upon is NO CARRY ONS for us! Well, we'll take our fanny packs with our tickets, IDs, money, and a small camera, but that's it.

We did "the right thing" on our first cruise: we carried on our toiletries, a change of clothing, seasickness medicine, etc. We let the kids carry their bags of stuff from the drive (coloring books, gameboys, etc.). We had to drag it all around the terminal. We had to stand in line with it. Then they wouldn't let us go to our staterooms until 1:30, so we had to drag it around the ship. Since we drove to Florida, we personally saw our luggage go to into the terminal -- chances that it wouldn't get on the ship are fairly remote.

Nope, next time we'll be the family with swimsuits under our clothes and NOTHING in our hands! And we'll be happier during boarding!

Sorry if my reply confused you, I thought they were talking about flying. But to answer your question, as far as I know, DCL doesn't have any restrictions on what you carry aboard.
