:confused3We are on the 4 night Wonder 2/7 and was wondering if it is it ok for kids,DS(10) to wear jeans and button ups at dinner? I know my DH will be doing dockers and button ups, but wasn't sure about what is appropriate for my son. I just don't want to make my son dress up a little, if there will be other kids running around in more comfortable clothing.

Jeans are fine.

Here is the FAQ from DCL's website:

Question
What should I wear to dinner?
Answer
Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual"—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 3-night cruises:

One cruise casual night—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
On 4-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night"—jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
Final night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
On 7-night cruises:

First night: cruise casual—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights—no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night—formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.
Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:

Men: dress shirt or jacket, no shorts
Women: dress or pantsuit
For cruises that request formalwear attire, Guests can pre-order tailored formalwear rentals and have it delivered directly to their staterooms upon arrival. To learn more, visit Cruiseline Formalwear.

Your kids will be just fine in jeans and nice button up shirts. You'll be surprised at what some people wear to dinner. I like to get dressed up a little bit because it just adds to the whole cruise experience, but quite a few people do not follow the dress code. I know DCL asks that you not wear shorts to dinner, but you'll see....there are plenty of people in shorts at dinner. I think there is a semi-formal night on the 4 night cruises (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong), so you might want the kids to wear slacks instead of jeans on that night. It's whichever night you're in Triton's. ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!!!!

I'm really not into dressing up, but I do have my boys wear khakis to dinner every night. They are comfortable and seem as easy as jeans. I have 3 sons and they never question it. I think for my family, having the kids wear khakis steps it up just a notch - they know this is something special.:thumbsup2

Either way, have a great time!

Can DH get away with khahi's & a button down shirt? He's lost quite a bit of weight recently and all of his jackets are too big. I hate to buy one while he's still dieting.

Thanks!

Diane

You are correct. I could have swore it used to read Jacket required, but it says dress shirt OR jacket. Nice. I'm all for casual :)

I posted this in reply to a similar question. I'm a single parent and my son is 12. Khakis works fine on any night. What we did for for formal night for him was to get a pair of nicer perma press white shorts (not the long or baggy ones!) I had him wear a shirt and tie with a navy blazer and matching navy kneesocks. It was 'dressy" but not overly so and the formal experience was wonderful for him.
