We have friends travelling with us and they will get the free dining since it was extended (we are DVC, so no free dining for us :sad2:)

Their son will be 18 months on their trip. Does the dining plan cover his food, too?

Sorry if it's a dumb question...we've just never done the DDP before!

kids under 3 are free so the child can eat off of the parent's plate or get a separate child's meal. My son ended up eating off of our plates at non-buffet places. But if you go to a chef mickey or other type of buffet the child can get their own plate at no extra charge.

What about if they go for the counter service plan?

I guess he likes to eat for such a little guy...not sure how it would be handled. Would they just buy him food separately and use their credits for themselves? Because kids under 3 don't get credits, right?

Kids under 3 don't get credits. Their options are:

1) Share their own meals (and snacks) with the child
2) Pay OOP for the child's food
3) Some combination of #1 and #2
4) Register the child as age 3; this would require paying for a child QSDP plan ($9.99/night) and getting the child a child ticket. In my opinion, it is better to pay for the child OOP unless you are getting QSDP via a free dining promotion.
