Kids and buffets?

Do they have to pick food from the "kids" section? My DD loves meat and veggies she really isn't a huge mac and cheese and nuggets girl. So can she eat from anywhere in the buffet? Also are all the kids menus the same at the disney restaraunts? Is it only nuggets, pizze and mac and cheese?

No, they can eat from wherever at a buffet.

I checked out many of the restaurants, we'll be going to, on allears.net. From what I cold see the nuggets, mac & Cheese and pizza is a common theme but there was a little more than that on some of the menus for kids.
As for the buffet, I only checked out the one for Liberty Tree Tavern, and the kids dinner menu was the exact same items as the Adult one, thus I will assume kids can pick Whatever they want.

agree w/ what pp said about the buffets; unfortunately, the kids meals at the TS restaurants have become very homogenized, and are almost identical. We usually order something, and then give them some off of our plates, and use buffets a lot because of better selection.

I have not noticed the same things about the kid's menus that others have said. We don't eat at many CS places- so maybe that's the difference?
Most TS places will have different menus for kids- it's not the same menu park wide. My kids do not like fried foods, and have never had trouble finding alternatives off the kid's menu- pastas, grilled chicken, rice and veggies, apples and grapes, applesauce, fish choices, etc. Most restaurants around the World Showcase will have menus that reflect choices from that country.
This is also true for Yak and Yeti. They have a great kid's menu!

As for buffets- no one cares what you choose to eat at a buffet. Kids have an area for themselves- but adults can choose from that section as well as children eating off the other sections of the buffet. It's not something that is kept separate or is monitored.
Buffet food is for everyone to help themselves.

As PP's mentioned, kids can eat anything from the buffet. This makes them especially good choices for kids who want a variety. Our family's personal fav. is Crystal Palace.

Also, while there is certainly a lot of nuggets, pizza, and mac&cheese to be found, there are other options out there. Most places will have at least one more interesting choice on the menu. DS10 was on the kids dining plan on our last 2 trips and prefers adult style food to kids. Some of the things he had were:
CRT & GFC - kids' fish of the day/ salmon
Coral Reef - Kids' mahi mahi
WCC - skillet
Teppan Edo - kids shrimp (just a smaller portion of the adult meal)

Also, for CS meals, we found the best choices at our resorts' food courts. (POR and ASMo)
