Kids and autograph books--how did your kids tote theirs around DLR?

I'm planning on buying my kids some autograph books at DLR. Do you have any good tips on toting the books around without too much damage? My kids are 3 & 6 so...

Right now my only idea is to have hubby carry a backpack and have the books kept in there in a plastic ziplock bag (hubby thinks ziplock is not necessary) until we see a character. Does anyone else have a better idea on how to tote them around?

We carried a small backpack with the autograph books, camera(s) & important stuff we didn't want to lose out of pockets (wallets, cellphones, etc). This worked good for us & always kept everything close at hand!

how big are the disney autograph books anyhow? I just assumed they are about 5x7 to 8x8 at most??? I'm trying to figure out what size backpack we need.

My kids each carry a kid-size fanny pack around their waist. In it they have their autograph book, a small snack or two and one of my husbands business cards with all the necessary emergency contact information listed (just in case they get lost).

My girls both carry a small bag with them. DD9 carries a small sling style backpack with her pins, her autograph book, a pen and a water bottle, DD12 carried the same type of backpack or her pin bag. DD12 is getting "too old for autographs Mom" so she really doesn't carry that with her anymore.

They have a simple one that's about 3x5 or 4x6. We also had one that's maybe 7x7, and it has a spot for a horizontally-aligned picture on every other page.

The bigger one, especially b/c DS was only 3 at the time, was always carried by one of the adults. The smaller one could be carried by DS (by then 4) some of the time, but he sets things down and runs off, so that's not the best way for us.

I keeping meaning to get a lanyard-bag for him to carry his autograph book by himself but I keep forgetting. When I get to it, though, I want to buy from an ebay seller who has been making them for at least 2 years (that's how long I've been looking). I am not the seller, I do not know the seller, she is not my long lost friend or sister (my sister's only 13!), but I've watched her stuff for awhile and it looks really cute. I was going to tell you to do a search for "disney autograph book", but now it seems there's a new seller out there, LOL. So you can either just search for the above on ebay to see all that's out there, or the seller I've been stalki...er...watching is nickaroo5055.

As soon as they are old enough/responsible enough, they start wearing fanny packs (I won't wear one but I think they look so geeky cute on my little boys, lol). They carry their autograph books, pens, hand sanitizer and camera.
