Kidani "wings"

You know how Jambo House has different "trails" (ie: zebra & giraffe), well does Kidani differentiate it's wings in any way? I would like to request a room to the right of the lobby as you are standing in front of and facing the building, but I'm not sure how to word it so that the MS CM would know what I want. I'm hoping that wing has a name, which would be an easier way to ask for what I want. :flower3:

I just left from my Kidani Birthday trip yesterday and from what I could tell they did not have names for their wings. I stayed on the lobby level, right above the zazu parking, which was farthest to the right of the resort as possible in a 1 BR. It was about a 4 minute walk to Jambo House, if you were interested in knowing. Just request the side of the building closest to the Jambo House entrance. I'm sure they'll understand.

Hope that helps.

How was the savannah from that area? Did you see alot of animals?

I saw some type of horned animals that looked like cows with horns sorta haha, sorry I can't be more specific...they were the regulars in my area pretty much day and night. Giraffe came over a couple times...3 of them. Zebras also came over at night, and also ostrich.

I opened this because I was thinking it might be about good buffalo "wings" at Kidani. :rotfl2:

I stayed at Kidani in June. If you were standing in front facing the lobby, the section to the right, the first section is Timon (lobby down to the bottom of the U) and the second section was Zazu (from the bottom of the U to the far end). These are the names on the walls in the garage.

My room was at the bottom of the U, last room in Timon. The giraffes and zebras only came down in the late afternoon when they were fed there. If I had to do it again, I would request close to lobby. They seemed to be there most of the day.

You might want to request "near lobby".

I was on the main floor in the Zazu section a couple of weeks ago. Animals are sparse in the am and mostly abundant in the evening. When we transferred to BWV, we were assigned the last section closest to studios. That walk at BWV seemed really short compared to Zazu. ;) But, it was a short walk to Jambo for Boma/Mara.

I had a room to the other side of the lobby, toward the pool. The location was FABULOUS! I would request it again... It was Rafiki section. So to either side of the lobby, Timon and Rafiki are the closest sections. The elevators leading up from the underneath parking are labeled this way so you know what section you are in and which elevator to take... Timon section would be the easiest to park in (you access the underneath parking thru that section) and Rafiki is great as it is so close to the pool.

We did notice some rooms are so far out that if you were at one extreme end your room might be closer to the lobby of the OTHER lodge (Jambo.) Kidani is sort of U-shaped and so the vast majority of the savannah rooms look at different sections of the very same savannah. At one end, past the pool, they are working on a smaller, additional savannah, so a few "outside facing" rooms will look at that one... But most will look inward at Sunset.

We are staying at Kidani in September (Savanna view) and I wanted to know how to request an optimal room. It sounds like the Rafiki section is a good choice based on your experience, but I have a couple of other questions:

1. How far was the trip from Rafiki to the bus stop? We want to catch the earliest bus every morning and every minute counts as we stumble out of bed and make our way to the bus stop.

2. Which floor do you recommend? I had read previously that 1 and 2 were too low and 5 and 6 were too high. So it sounds like 3 or 4 might make sense. Would you agree to that?

3. Does anyone know to request a room? Should I fax the letter to the AKL front desk 2-3 days before I arrive or should I send it earlier? Any advice would be helpful.

The bus stop is right near the lobby, off to one side. It is in front of Timon section I think. I could see the bus stop from my standard view room about HC parking in Rafiki -- still quite convenient.

We were on Floor #2 and when we looked out hallways windows to critters, it was perfect. You could see animals close up but see a bit in the distance too. I think 2-4 would be ideal. The floors have odd numbers depending on which side of the lobby you are on... My room did not have a "2" in it and it was a bit confusing. I think this is because the upper floors do not connect... They are separated by the Atrium lobby... so "4th" on one side does not connect to 4th on the other side, and therefore the wings have different numbers to distinguish them. Plus every floor is up one additional story, over the parking, which is visible underneath... So my 2nd floor room was pretty high up.

They have done a wonderful job at this resort making great spots from which to view the animals. The porch behind the main Kidani lobby is wonderful, and there are also views from the community hall and hallways. Even though all I was able to get for our overnight was a standard view, we saw the animals a lot. I think you will have a good view no matter which end your room is at.

Sorry I am not sure exactly how to make requests... I have always just called Member Services and asked them to note my requests. There might be a better way...

There are no first floor rooms, that is where the parking is. I think the top floor is 5. I was on 3, see picture above.

To request a room, call member services and have it added to your reservation. DVC resorts do not accept direct calls or faxes for requests.
