We are looking at the possibility of renting DVC points for a 2 bedroom at AKL in October 2017. Renting DVC points is new to us, as is AKL. What are the pros and cons to both Kidani and Jambo? Any real difference in the rooms? Our party will including myself and my husband, our three girls (ages 8, 6, and almost 3 at travel), and my mom who will be in her late 60s but is an avid walker with no mobility issues. Thanks for your opinions!

I think the main difference if you get a lock off you'll have 3 bathrooms at Kidani. The pool area at Kidani has more for the kids too.

The lobby at Jambo is amazing and very nice to walk into every day. Kidani is smaller. But the buses pick up at Kidani first (except for Disney springs) so you have the advantage there.

Like @Lvsdisney just stated, the biggest difference is the extra bathroom over at Kidani.. But with that, comes longer walks down the neverending HALLS...LoL

Jambo= BIGGER, More Grand
Kidani= Smaller, more subdued, quainter

POOLS- Jambo has a rather more spread out area, with a much larger pool..The drawback is the very small (length) slide.
Kidani has a smaller pool but feels more cozy, and has a really awesome slide..It also has an added water play area ( nice size ) with lots of water features. Both Jambo & Kidani had hot tubs, and also both have pool bars/ for drinks and some food offerings.

MEALS- Jambo has BOMA, JIKO, & also Mara--> QS. This is 1 of the reasons why many choose here.
Kidani has Sanaa ( which is fabulous) All the Restaurants are actually.
Refill and coffee stations can be found at the Mara( Jambo ) & the gift shop in the lobby ( Kidani ) & also at both pool bars for refreshments too.

LOBBY- No comparison here, because the 5 floor atrium of Jambo house is awe inspiring, and second to none...Same architect that designed WL & VGC too. Not to say that Kidani isn't nice, but just doesn't come close.

Also the fact that Kidani picks up & drops off 1st w/ the buses, is a nice perk to have when staying there.

Try them both, for truly It's going to be hard to decide which you'll like better.

Awesome comparison! Just what I was looking for! I think for a first stay I am leaning towards Jambo for the full effect. Thank you!

I doubt you'll be disappointed.... Be forewarned though..... This resort may/will change the way you do WDW in the future.....You'll know what I mean after the trip is over.....Psst. Try to fit in some resort time :rolleyes1

Jambo books up faster, as there are many fewer units. Jambo has all lock-off 2BRs, no dedicated. This means a 2BR will have a king bed in the first bedroom, and a queen bed with a double sleeper sofa in the second. The living room has a double sofa bed and a single chair bed. There are a total of 33 Standard and 34 Savannah 2BR units.

Meanwhile, Kidani Village has 108 lock-off 2BR savannah, and 60 Standard. There are also an additional 140 dedicated 2BR units (113 Savannah and 27 Standard). The lock-off has a similar configuration of sleep surfaces. The dedicated 2BRs have 2 Queen beds in the second bedroom, however.
