Kidani Village update

I try not to buy things on Amazon with integrated batteries from anonymous brands in random letters. Especially not things that go near water!
Haha, understandable. There are various different ones out there. Hopefully you can find one from a reputable site/brand. I know conair makes one Conair Jet

The older ones required plugging into the outlet, which I'm not sure you would trust more or less than these with batteries in the bath though 🤣

Well one plugged into an outlet at least has some protection with a GFCI outlet (not that it can't kill you if something goes wrong), these cheap trinkets pumped out in Shenzen often have zero protections at all.

A pull-down below the TV taking the place of the dresser will be a huge disappointment for me. So many DVC studios have basically zero drawer space.
Wouldn't these small murphy beds only go in one-bedrooms, not studios? AKV studios sleep four so there is no third sleeper surface. The change would be similar to BLT which still has an additional chair, it's just not a sleep surface.

In some refurbs they've taken out the dresser under the TV and installed a pull-down bed, even in the studios.

Thanks for the photos. I’m actually happy about the brown carpet. 😂 I was terrified they would grey-ify my favorite resort.

That was about 10 years ago when they were added to BCV, BRV and BWV. They have not added to the studios since. They did add the twin to the living room in SSR to allow the one bedroom to sleep 5 without having to provide your own bedding like BCV, BRV and BWV still require.

I don’t know of any studios that didn’t have the small pull down bed get one. Some 1/2 bedrooms did. The studios that had them previously were VGF, PVB, BRV, BCV, BWV and RIV had them when it opened. They were added to1/2 bedrooms at SSR and BLT. OKW has no pull down beds. I’m not sure about Vero, HHI, Aulani

There are some photos on Facebook my DW showed me of a 2 bedroom. There is the pulldown in living room in the 2 bedroom, the sleeper chair is gone. The Murphy couch is like SSR with the chaise lounge. The refurb looks very good. They kept a lot of the colors.

My understanding is brv, bcv, and bwv went from 4 to 5 for studio back in the mid 2010s refurb.

Here's an update on the Kidani Village construction project.

Current Status: Half of the resort is undergoing a major refurbishment, specifically the section to the right of the lobby and closest to Jambo House. The section is closed just passed the laundry room. The arcade and community hall are open.

Materials are currently staged in the garage beneath this area, and the covered parking underneath this section is closed. This part of the resort will be completed and opened in phases. The focus is on the section nearest to the lobby first. The 4th and 5th floors of this section are nearing completion, but it is unclear whether they will open separately or wait until all floors are finished. The remaining half of this section will follow afterward.

Renovations: This update will include new paint, fixtures, appliances, and furniture. For flooring, the studios and one-bedroom units will feature Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) throughout. In dedicated two bedrooms, LVP will only be installed in the living areas of the two-bedroom units and carpet in the bedrooms. I did not inquire about the Grand Villas, but they will likely have a combination of LVP and carpet as well.

I did not ask about the updates regarding the Murphy beds, but this feature has been included in all previous major refurbishments.

All of the exterior windows are currently covered with dark plastic, preventing visibility into the construction areas.

I took a few photos but the consturction site is restricted so I could’t get close.
There are room pics up on FB now from someone staying there. They kept the same dining tables/chairs, counter stools, and headboards. I know some people are pleased. I was surprised, I thought it would be all new furniture.

Yes, they did but with the most recent updates, no resort has a studio that was 4 changed to 5.

I feel like the definition of hard goods refurb is all new furniture. Maybe I'm wrong.

VGC didn’t get any new furniture or also any no new tubs, faucets. appliances, cabinets, countertops, lighting, charging ports. AKL looks absolutely amazing in comparison! I was shocked to see completely new countertops and cabinetry after ours all stayed the same.
