Kidani Village or Jambo House?

We are so excited! We are leaning towards staying at the Animal Kindgom Villas. Does anyone have any recommendations as far as, which to stay in, Jambo House or Kidani Village? Which is closer to the main hotel? Is a Savannah view worth the upgrade in your opinion? Thank you so much for helping me out with this. We have never been to Animal Kingdom and your input is greatly appreciated!

Jambo House IS the main hotel (if by that you mean the original AKL).

I don't do the savanna view anymore - to me it is not worth the points or the money - but if you are going to spend time in your room, and you have not visited before, you might want one.

I have always said I wouldn't ever stay at AKL without a savannah room - but now that I have bought into DVC and know we will be going back time and time again, I would use less points and stay in a non-savannah room.

BUT - If you think this might be a 'one time only' visit there - I would say Definitely get the savannah room!!

I prefer Jambo house, but that's just me. The pool view was very nice.

If it is just your dh and you, I'd go with Jambo House if you like the convenience of counter service (Mara) and enjoy Jiko and Boma for dining.

If you plan on a 1 or 2 bedroom villa---and have more people, Kidani villas are larger and you'll get 2 bathrooms in a one bedroom and 3 in a two bedroom. Even the studio at Kidani is a bit larger over the Jambo side. For me, the main draw of Jambo is more variety for dining.

I, personally, would be disappointed if we stayed at AKV and did not book savanna view. For us, that is truly what makes this resort experience. We purchased AKV for the savanna views right off our balcony. I think my kids would be heartbroken if we rolled into our villa and it was not a view of the animals So I guess we're not there yet with the feeling to save points and not book savanna. Not yet at least......

PS : and just an fyi. The bus to the parks is supposed to stop at Kidani first before heading over to Jambo if this makes any difference ?

We are neew DVC owners of Kidani and have our frist stay in Oct. I bounced ideas back and fourth of hwere to stay. We don't want the Savanah. We are not going to sit on the balcony for more than a few minutes so it was not worth it to us to use the points for the Savanah. Jambo house has very nice pool views. We did stay on a cash reservation in April there. But then we might have looked out it a total of 5 minutes. Jambo has Mara the counter service place along with Boma and Jiko too. Kidani has the better pool in my opinion with the waterslide, but Kidani is the first stop for all the parks. We plan to eat a samm breakfast in the studio and use the dinning plan elsewhere. We have no problem doing a 10 minute walk. I know at CBR it was more than that.

We stated there several years ago and loved having the savannah view. I still remember how close the giraffes were. We didn't spend alot of time in our room but when we did it was awesome. We weren't DVC members then and we paid full rack rate but it was so worth it. I don't think I would enjoy staying there without a savannah view.
