We have booked our first DVC and I was wondering what the best rooms were for Savannah view.. I would also like to be close to the lobby if at all possible. If anyone has stayed in these and may know some good rooms please let me know. Also when can I request which type of room I would like and how would I go about doing that?
Thank you

I would request close to lobby, the animals stay closer to the center.

What do you mean by "type of room"?

We were there the beginning of September. We were two buildings away from the lobby. We did see lots of animals, but they did seem to stay closer to the lobby. We were on the 4th floor and I it was a little too high. I think the 3rd would be better.

I just booked Kidani savannah view as well and I'd love to hear the responses.

Made my room request on the DVCmember website, they sent me an email back saying that my request was noted on my reservation. My request was granted:wizard: Asked for close to lobby and thought that was a great location to view the animals!

We were at the Kidani Village in December 2009 with a savannah view about three buildings to the right and on the same floor as the lobby and very much enjoyed it. Saw plenty of animals including giraffes, pool was great, the only drawbacks were amount of time on the bus and closest quick service was Jambo House. Overall we had a great time!

Glad you had a good view. Did you happen to do online checkin?
Thanks.

Just note that for anyone making a location request that it is not guaranteed and you do risk not getting it. I had a 2BR in early January for which I requested low floor (2 or 3) and close to the lobby which was noted on the reservation; I got 4th floor almost to the end of the north wing more than 1/4 mile from the lobby.

Were you dissapointed with the view? Pics?

We're way out towards the end of the north wing right now but on the 2nd floor and we love it! At times there are no animals here, at other times we have a lot of activity. For example, last evening around 5:30 there were 5 giraffes, a zebra, 5 ankole cattle and an ostrich grazing in this area. At 10PM there were two zebras and an ostrich sleeping just in front of our balcony. The keepers put out food regularly throughout the day, evening and even late at night. If you're in your room at that time, you will see lots of animals.

ETA: We also have a giraffe feeding station directly across from our room. There is another one across the savanna from us and we can see the giraffes very well when they are using that feeder too.

You are the AKL Queen :worship:, you remember all the threads about savannah views and such, or am I just misremembering it.
Thanks for the comforting thought we are still up in the air, I guess the most important thing to us is being dissapointed by the view/lack of animals. :goodvibes

Guess I'm confused about your question about what type of room you would like. if you have booked you have already picked what type of room. If you didnt book a savannah view, you wont get one. Now if you meant more when you can request WHERE your room is, you can put a request in at any time, but remember it is only a request. Make sure you list your 'most important' request the first one.

We are going in October with 10 of us split between a 2 bedroom and a studio. I have to keep stressing that while I have requested that the rooms be 'close' to each other, there is the reality that the 2 rooms could be from one end of the hotel to the other.

I thought I saw someone mention above that you could put a room request in online... can anybody tell me where to do that? We're going in less than a month and I haven't requested anything, but I figure it can't hurt to try.

Thanks!

We are currently in 7338 - not sure how to post picture from my iphone. We are in the 5th building from lobby toward the Jambo side. I think after staying here that this is a decent location for us. Walk to Mara is okay - distance is not bad but as a woman with two small children it was a bit too quiet to walk after dark. Third floor is good - animals easily seen and I think 2nd floor by the lobby gets way too much foot traffic for my taste - everyone goes by there on their way to the buses, to the lobby and to the pool.
