How ironic....more responses when it doesn't work!:rotfl:

Anyway, sorry. Having problems with it now.

Thankyou for the photo's .. It's really coming along now is'nt it!!
Can't wait to stay there....

It appears that the first two building will have villas on just the side that faces the Sunset Savannah. The buildings that flank the Kidani lobby area will have villas on either side of a central hall. Or at least that's the way it appears to me.
We noticed that too when we were there in January but it looked to me like the first three building segments were savanna view only, not just the first two.

Are there four "beads" in the first section? What I noticed was that the ones on either side of the lobby were two sided. You can see what I think is the center hall in the last picture. That's the last section before the lobby (which is the low flat section that is very hard to make out).

The drawing they published last year shows seven segments on each side of the lobby. That drawing also showed each segment being two villas deep which is not how it's being built so I'm not sure how much of the original drawing is still accurate. But it does seem to match the shape and layout of the actual structure. If the first three segments had non-savanna facing rooms, they would have had a view of the AKL employee parking lot -- not too nice. Once you get to the fourth segment, the non-savanna side faces the grounds of Kidani Village so the view improves quite a bit by that point.

Well, I wish I could remember for sure or that the pictures showed all the buildings at once. But I do think it is just three buildings before the lobby. At any rate, the doublesided building in photo 5 is on the upper part of the lower loop....if that makes any sense.

The whole thing certainly does have the appearance of an inverted 3...or of some kind of animal's horns as described on the video.

I took some pics this week too, and we were amazed that there was one section already painted on the outside! I asked the animal curator at AKL about the movement of animals off and on the Sunset Savanna during construction. He said it is there intention to keep animals on the savanna at all times, but once they get to the point of taking down the construction fence, there will be a few days when they will have to acclimate the animals to the new area. During that time there might be a few days when folks wont see animals. They also are adding new animals to the Sunset savanna at that time, since the Sunset savanna is the one savanna that will serve both buildings. The new savanna has not yet been named, and they are in the process of acquiring animals for that right now. The curator couldn't say for sure what kinds of animals will be on the new savanna, but he did say they plan to have some "different" kinds for us that are not on the other savannas.

I also talked to several guides, AKL staff, and one kiosk "sales" person. All said the only word they have right now is that Kidani will open "early in 2009". They did say it is definitely ahead of schedule, so they expect that information to change as we get toward the end of the year.

Diane, did you have Greg as your guide for the Safari? We did last week. Isn't he great? I asked about the animals for the new Savannah and he deftly didn't really answer. ;) Just said they were putting together a list but that some would be different.

If you're still there and have time, will you check out how many buildings are in the lower part of the horns?

Are you enjoying KC?
