OK, I admit this is a weird question but hear me out...

We are travelling with a friend and her 2 DSs (7 and 5) along with me, DH and DS (also 7). We have a 2 bdrm lockoff at AKV Kidani. I am trying to plan sleeping arrangements. I am thinking Friend and 2 sons can sleep in lockoff. DH and I will sleep in other bedroom. Here is the question - I would rather not have our DS sleeping in the living room on the sleeper chair or pull-out. Mainly because I am thinking after the kids go to bed the adults would like to sit in the living room, have a drink and watch TV or something. SO - question is - do you think we could move the sleeper chair into the bedroom DH and I will share? I know moving furniture sounds really strange, but I am thinking if he can crash out in there then the living room remains a 'sleep free' zone for us to hang out. Any thoughts on this (other than what an overplanning weirdo please ;))

Highly doubtful. The sleeper chair is not only very heavy, but wide as well. I would just bring an Aero bed...

I'll second Carol's comments. The sleeper chair is not meant to be moved into another room.

Please save the wear on the furniture and walls and leave it in the living room and do not attempt to move it into another room.

I've been wondering about something similar. We always put 4yo DS in the floor of our room when we travel. Can you pull the mattress out of a sleeper chair and lay it on the floor in the bedroom. It would save me packing the aero bed we usually travel with.

I moved it 4-5 feet one night and wish I didn't.

As far as I know, these chairs are integrated units in which the mattress does not separate from the chair. It just folds out into a bed like the newest of the sleeper sofas.

I agree it is not meant to be moved. It is heavy and wide.
An Aero bed is like an air mattress. A twin size Aero is reportedly comfortable. I have read (have no personal experience), that they are pretty compact and easy to travel with.
I think this solution will allow you to have a "sleep free" living room.
Have a Good Trip.

This really disturbs me... all I can see is potential wear and tear on the unit... which we all wind up having to pay for in increasing dues :headache:

Moving furniture, disassembling furniture... YIKES!!! :scared1:

Why not just put your son to bed in your bed and move him through into the sleeper chair when you are done in the living room.

This is what we did with my dd (6) when we went in feb. She would go to bed in our big bed which she loved, we used the living area and when we were done we set up the sleeper chair, turned out most of the lights leaving just a dim lamp to see by then carried her through. She stirred a bit but soon snuggled up again and went back to sleep. Easy solution that saves packing extra bedding! Mornings weren't an issue because she was also first up anyway :goodvibes

I also agree that I wouldn't try moving the sleeper chair, they are big and heavy adn very wide. You will only knock walls and cause wear and tear

This is what I was thinking....although DH would have to move DS for sure - but likely he weighs less than the chair!! ;)

We were at AKV at a 1 bedroom and when we tried to open the sofa bed, the sleeper chair was in the way, so we had to move it a couple of inches. Believe me, it is heavier than it looks.

Don't move the chair. I don't even think it would fit thru the doorway unless you turned it on it's side. Even if you get it thru the doorway where would you go with it after that, it would have to stay in the hallway because the bedroom is much too small to accomodate the chair and if it is stuck in the hallway it blocks the bathroom.

A very responsible and reasonable solution. :thumbsup2

Another suggestion - let the three kids share the second bedroom and have the other mom either sleep in one of the queen sized beds in the second bedroom or on the sleeper sofa in the living room. If the kids are friends, it will be like a sleepover for them.
