Fish Extender Gifts

I am on Pinterest and it is a fun site where you can get ideas. And I saw this:

And I thought it was the cutest idea.

So I took this .jpg image

from the website I ordered the fabric for our Fish Extender from and used photoshop to make this:

CandyPouches.jpg

We have 14 families in our fish extender group which means we have 49 people total. So my right hand is cramped from cutting out 50 of the front and 50 of a plain Mickey head for the back. Going to sew them together today. I will post photos later.

I MAY get lazy and get the stapler out and use that instead of sewing it. We will see.

What a cute idea! It would be a fun project with kids. Maybe not to do 49, but to do a small number. I'll have to re-pin this so I can remember for Alaska!

Speaking of which, I'd like to try and do a June sailing since we get out of school so early compared to most other states. The first three for 2013 in June are the 3rd, 10th and 17th. My preference would be the 3rd or 10th, but the 3rd might be a little rushed since her dance recital will likely be June 1 next year, and if I can get Amy to go, she may actually have to work June 3. I'm going to message my mom and sisters and see if they are in. I really hope ya'll can go. It would be so much fun!!!

They really turned out awesome. It turns out sewing them was the way to go and I was able to sew up all 49 while watching Up with DD. So it didn't take too long. I will post a photo in a little while. I think June 10th would be better for us since we sometimes have school here until early June. We will pre-book on the boat and change dates if we need to. I could get REAL excited about that !! And it would really be great to see your Mom and sisters !! I wonder if airfare will be horrible, though ...............

Those paper sewn pouches are adorable!! I'm glad that sewing all of them wasn't too bad! I'm sure people are going to love them!

Here's how they turned out. I really like them.

Following that black line with a sewing machine wasn't as easy at it may seem though. They look pretty cool.

More FE gifts coming up !!

Ah I love them! That is SUCH a cute idea! I want one hahaha.

I love them, too. I just put some kinda lame candy inside. DD wanted something chocolate, but I was afraid it would melt. Now I wish I had gotten something more exciting to put inside. Oh well. Next time!!

They turned out so cute!! How much trouble do you think it would be to sew them by hand? I was thinking DD might want to make some that are egg shaped for her friends for Easter.

I'm hoping it won't be too horrible. Those dates are supposed to be for sailings leaving Seattle rather than Vancouver. Are you familiar with Clark Howard? He does a consumer advice nationally syndicated radio show. He also does a good bit of travel advice as well as he used to own a chain of travel agencies. Anyway, when people have called him for airfare advice in getting to Vancouver for an Alaska cruise, he has advised them to fly to Seattle and then drive up to Vancouver since Seattle tends to be cheaper, and goes on sale more often than Vancouver.

It was faster to just sew them on the machine. I guess it depends upon how many she needs to do. And how much time she wants to spend.

I searched kayak.com last night just for grins. $2300 for my whole family to fly out there. Almost $600 per person. OUCH !! That was for this June, however since there wasn't anything scheduled for NEXT June. Sometimes it is over a $100 cheaper to fly out of Charlotte, so that is something for us to consider.

LOVE the pouches :thumbsup2

I am a bit obsessed with pinterest, so many beautiful ideas. I am not crafty at all but have been inspired to make a couple things i've found on there :)

Yes. I have found some really cool ideas on there, but otherwise ... it is just liking pictures. Which is OK.

Another thing I did for FE gifts was print out those lollipop covers

DCLSuckerCover2.jpg

I got them from a FE thread on the cruise line section of the DIS. I typed our cruise and dates on the back.

cut them out and inserted the lollipops. So another kinda fun something.

All of the rest was just gift bag stuff.

Little girls got - a ring pop, some tattoos, bubbles, Lik'm'stix

Little boys got - a ring pop, a toy car, bubbles, Lik'm'stix, pencil

Older girls got - a ring pop, some tattoos, a kit to make a friendship bracelet, Lik'm'stix

Older boys got - a ring pop, pencil and sharpener, Lik'm'stix. POTC bracelet

Grown ups got - chap stick, sunscreen, emery boards, tissues and a carabiner.

I didn't want to do too much because of two things. 1. It was getting expensive and 2. I didn't want the people flying home to have extra weight. So a lot of it was edible.

I organized them by stateroom in gallon sized zip lock bags.

39 more days !!!

OH MY GOSH! 39 days! That's just gonna fly on by. :goodvibes

Once again, I love the FE stuff! Very creative. Good idea making a lot of it edible/light weight. :thumbsup2

Hey !! Thanks for coming over and stopping by to say hello !! I am seriously scream-in-my-pillow excited about this trip !! 38 more days until we leave for the parks and then 42 until we board the ship. March is going to be the longest month EVER !!

We just have to wait for a good sale. I looked at Airtran, and the prices were all over the map. I'm wondering if migh end up being cheaper to book a flight to LA and then book a flight to Seattle (or Vancouver). This is my backend way of justifying a trip to Disneyland. You know...since we'd be out there anyway. ;)

Whoa !! Good thinking !!! I did discover that it was $800 cheaper for all of us to fly out of Atlanta.

My next task for the cruise is to print out magnets for our stateroom door. The DIS has so many fun crafty things to keep you busy while you are waiting for your trip !! I bought some magnetic paper that you can run through your printer to print these on. Here are the magnets I picked out:

I love this one.

I am going to put DH's name in this one.

My name in this one

Minniepolkadotmh.jpg

DS's name in this one

And DD's name in this one.

These magnets fit around the round stateroom number on your door. We picked these two thinking we will change them throughout the cruise.

Captain Mickey

Pluto - DD loves Pluto

A couple more that I liked.

And this one I plan on loading up in photo shop and changing the names on the deck chairs to ours, but I haven't been able to gain control of the main computer here in the house from the kids to do it yet.

I never knew they made magnetic printer paper! That's awesome! The magnets are so cute, your door is going to be so festive!!
