Wondering if someone that 's already stayed in Kidani can help me out. My 11 month window opens this weekend and I'm going to book a 2BR unit in Kidani. If I were to do a room request on the 2nd or 3rd floor facing Sunset savannah situated somewhere between the lobby and pool area, what range of room numbers should I ask for?

Why not just request "lower floor, near the pool and lobby"? If location is more important then "near the pool and lobby, lower floor".

There is a Kidani Village map here if you want to see the range of room numbers for that location.

Thanks Lisa,
I didn't know if giving a specific room number range would be the way to go or the tried and true area requests. I figured the lodge may have even numbered ending rooms on one side and odd on the other. I like your idea though.

I want to say it was 7718. It was a very easy walk to the lobby, a VERY close walk to the pool (just down the hall, turn left to the elevator down, and then we were RIGHT across from the pool). Plus our view of the Savannah was AWESOME...the giraffes were practically right outside of our balcony every day!

Here are some views:

Last I read the Sunset Savanna wasn't the best savanna as far as number of animals. Maybe someone can confirm. :goodvibes

The Sunset Savannah is the only one open at Kidani right now.

Here are the animals we saw from our room:

Giraffes, Zebras, Ostrich, Wildebeast, Ankole Cattle and some birds

So yeah, PLENTY to see on the Sunset Savannah at Kidani!

More photos, most taken right from our balcony!

This was the only one taken from closer to the lobby and one of those viewing animals. These guys wandered a little bit in our direction, but not very close.

When we stayed at Kidani I was pleased to see that the four giraffes that used to be on the Uzima Savanna are now on the Sunset Savanna. We saw them often during our 2-day stay there. On our previous stay at AKV/Jambo a year earlier, there was often only one giraffe out on the Sunset Savanna so this was a big improvement. We saw lots of other animals as well, including during our dinner at Sanaa where we saw several animals right outside the window near our table.

We've found the best way to see lots of animals at AKL/AKV is to find out the feeding schedule and be out on your balcony (or the common viewing areas) at that time.

I've often read that on these boards as well but just returned from AKV and saw the most animals on the Sunset. I think the only time I didn't see any out there was around 3pm on a VERY hot day. And, as another poster mentioned, it is currently the only savanna open at Kidani.

On our last day we ate at Sanaa and saw many animals out the windows. It is a very cool perk of eating there and a big plus over the Jambo restaurants IMO.

We stayed in room 7514. We were close to both the lobby and parking garage elevators. Excellant placement. Lots of views of the animals. We had free valet parking but discovered it was quicker to park ourselves under the building next to the elevator. The lobby elevator did not always work.

Fantastic pictures Kittylady!! Were you on the 3rd floor?
Yes, I think we were on the 3rd floor. It was a great location! We also found it was just as easy to park ourselves, even with my MIL who was using a cane and/or wheelchair. Since we were close to the far end of the building and near the section that was NOT open, parking was never an issue. We were always steps from the elevator.

Anyone who wants to view even more Kidani pool and Water Play pictures can check them out on my trip report, still in progress, here.
