Hello!

We just got back from our first DVC stay, and it was simply phenomenal! I am the person who posted about concerns in keeping the trip since my husband just had knee surgery, so glad we decided to still take the trip... but I digress :)

We have AKL Kidani booked the week after Christmas. My mom will be joining my husband and by then 7 year old son. We booked a 2 BR condo but looking at it now it seems like we can do with a 1 BR since it has two bathrooms (per the floor plan). My hubby and I are happy to sleep in the pullout and have my mom and son take the bedroom. Can anyone tell me if the 1 BR condo is roomy enough for 4 people? We would be saving a ton of pts by changing to a 1 BR.

Thanks!

We went once with DD+1 - gave them the BR and we took the pull-out and it was just fine however it was the BCV with the old pull-out. Not sure AKL pull-out is going to be comfortable for 2 adults.

Kidani 1BRs have one king bed in the master bedroom and a queen-size sleeper sofa and a twin-size sleeper chair in the living area. The sleeper sofa is supposed to be pretty comfortable so another option would be for you and your DH to take the king bed, put mom on the queen sleeper sofa and your DS7 on the sleeper chair. That puts two adults in a king bed rather than on the smaller sleeper sofa and gives mom a bed all to herself.

A 1-BR would be plenty of space for the 4 of you. If the sofabed is too tight or too uncomfortable for the two of you, there is always the pull-out chair that could be used.

If you really want to save points, try to get a standard view. It gets dark by about 5PM, so you can't see much on the savanna in the evening. Plus, if it is cold during your visit, it's no fun to sit out on the balcony anyway.

Thanks all! These extra points will now be banked and put to good use in 2014..hopefully at HH!

This is too funny. I just hit my 7 month mark today, reserved a 1BR for 4.5 of us (2YO) and hoping to use the leftover points for HH in 2015.
Home resort is BLT and I have never stayed at Kidani. Trying to get myself excited, I was hoping to stay somewhere else but once the in-laws said they wanted to come along it had to be Kidani for the extra bathroom.

MaxsDad --- we just took our first DVC trip and stayed at BLT even though AKL is home. Figured why not since it was open 5 months out when I booked. HH seems really hard to get, especially if you need to go in the summer vacation months and can only book 7 months out.

Yeah I had been researching too and saw how difficult it can be. Fortunately I can be somewhat flexible with my dates and go in either may or September. Also I thought I might look into vero beach as an option. I figure I have some time to sort it out.
Worst case scenario we go back to Disney with the points. Lol. That isn't so bad.
