hi all:)

We have booked a one bed villa in kidani in August for myself DH, DD5 and DD20 months. We stayed there last year but only for a long weekend. This time we are staying for just under 3 weeks ☺️

As there is only one king bed in the bedroom, we put dd5 in that with baby DD in the cot while me and DH slept on the pull out soft bed so we could still access the kitchen etc.. However we both ended up with back ache :( 3 weeks we're not sure now if we will cope!!

Looking at the configuration of the rooms... There is a one bed sleeper chair in the villas too. Anyone know if t is possible to move this into the main bedroom so we can have the real bed back and we are all sleeping In the bedroom? Our other thought is just asking for more blankets to sleep on the pull out or getting a matress topper from wallmart!

Alternatively we could hope for an upgrade to a 2 bed... Anyone hear of this happening and what's our chances?!?

TIA

Chair is too heavy and too large and shouldn't be moved. DVC doesn't upgrade.

That long of a stay, I would split stay and move to another resort closer to the action to make it seem like 2 vacations.

Thinking about this more, adults sleep in the bed, DD5 on the sleeper sofa and DD 20 in the pack n play. All are in the bedroom and your back ache is gone. Kids can sleep anywhere.

I agree with Bill. I wouldn't give up that king bed to put the littles in the bedroom either. However, I will say that our bed at Kidani seemed so hard last week. I don't remember that from previous trips. I like to sleep on my side and I kept waking up because the bed was killing my hip.

When my boys were little we used to get an air mattress for the floor next to the bed. Sometimes they would both sleep on it, sometimes one would sleep there and one in the king with us. It was worth it to be able to have them go to sleep and still gave use of the living room and kitchen.

Thanks for your thoughts! I was thinking an upgrade would be out of the question!

We would prefer dd5 to be on the pull out sleeper sofa/chair but they are both located in the 'living area' so wr wouldn't be able to put her to bed and still use the kitchen etc... Especially if it can't be moved. Maybe worth getting an air matress but coming from the U.K. it would be too much to pack to bring with us :( might have to check out wallmart to see what the better option was. We did cuddle Dd in the king bed last time and it was comfy!!!

Thanks again!

We did a split stay last time at OKW (our home resort) but would prefer a full break in one place this time and loved kidani for many reasons-animals, amenities, kid pool/splash area... Not bothered about distance as we drive everywhere anyway!

Air mattresses are relatively inexpensive. Since you'll have a car, just buy one after you arrive.

Yes, just get a small air bed for the little one. You might find a smaller kid sized one at Walmart or Target after you arrive. Or check their website and have them deliver it to AKV.

You could also put the kids to bed in the bedroom and then when you're ready to go to bed just carry them out to the sofa sleeper. We had our twin, then 3 year old, twin grandsons at Kidani last year and they loved it. They loved everything...the Savannah view of the animals, the art décor, and they especially loved the splash area at the pool.

Thanks all! Will prob head to a supermarket and get an air bed for her. Seems the easiest way to do it rather than furnature removals ! we're looking forward to returning in the summer! Only 4 months of planning left....

This is exactly what we've done with our DD. She falls asleep in the bedroom and then we move her to the sleeper sofa when we're ready to go to sleep.

People have received upgrades at DVC resorts but I believe they are rare occurrences caused by booking errors.

Upgrades can also happen if they have to take a room out of service for a maintenance issue. If that room type is fully booked someone will get an upgrade though it may involve moving them to a different resort.

It has also been reported that people did get upgraded when they asked for an upgrade at the front desk. Points were taken from the member's account to pay for the upgrade.

We have two kids and have done it a variety of ways. We've had the kids sleep in the bedroom and us in the living room, brought and used air mattresses and rented a crib/toddler bed (which should still fit most 5 year olds) and put those in the bedroom. IME you can fit two air mattresses/cribs/toddler beds in the bedroom, one on either side of the bed.

there is a super target down 192-not far from AKV via car, where you can get your groceries at the same time as the air mattress (look in sporting goods/camping section) for about $25. DS13 still sleeps on one sometimes. Also, I agree with others, just put the 5 yr old in the bed and then transfer to sofa when you are ready to go to sleep.
