Kid Swap

Hello,

I just was scanning the board, and was wondering if someone could clarify something for me.

DS5 and DD5 are tall for age, and may make height on most rides. But one or both of them may not want to go on....
I have two scenarios...

A. Both DS and DD do not want to ride (or I won't let them/or one chickens out at last minute)
can we "officially" kid swap and DH ride first - he gets off and gives me the pass, I give him the kids and I go on. (Honestly I don't ever expect this to happen, but I just thought I would ask)

B. DD doesn't want to ride, but DS does. We ask for "kid swap". DH and DS wait in line ride and then swap with me and DD. What if DS doesn't want to go on again - do I still get to go on? And do I wait in line with them, or with kid swap do I wait outside the attraction,

Thank you all for your patience. This is our first trip with the kids, and haven't been to WDW in 7 years. I know the more info I have before we are in the parks and DH asks me how it works the better!

If your children do not want to ride but are tall enough, you can still get the child swap. Just ask for it as your DH gets in line at the front (don't wait til he is inside, they are normally always done outside). You and your children can wait, and when he gets off, you can go through with your swap pass through fastpass.

If you DS goes with your husband, and then gets off and doesn't want to go again, you can still go, same thing, just use your ticket. If he does want to go again, that's fine, child swaps are good for three people

Does that answer your question?

You'd wait for him outside the attraction. He'll come out and you go in, using the FastPass line...and you're good to go!!

Actually, it depends on the CM and the height of the child. My younger DD is tall enough for ToT, Splash and Thunder but doesn't like to ride them. When I asked the CM working the ride, he meaured her and told us because she was tall enough to ride, we had to all wait in the line together and swap at the ride itself.

My advice, ask the CM working the ride before you all get in line.

Sorry, but I have not found this to be true. Once children are tall enough for a thrill ride you must swap INSIDE the attraction, not outside. Tower of Terror was the worst for us because my DD was also afraid of the pre-show an I could never convince the CMs to give us a baby swap FastPass because she was tall enough for the ride. We also had to swap INSIDE on Space Mountain. My DD rode Splash and Big Thunder, so I don't know their policies.

You *might* be able to convince a CM to allow you to swap outside, but I wouldn't count on it.

No, sorry:( In my experience, as recently as April, as well as Feb and December you can't use baby swap unless you have a child who does not meet the requirements to ride.

Babyswap is an option for families who can't ride together because of an imposed restriction, the purpose is to allow for one only wait time rather than two wait times and not to expediate the wait.

This past April the CM's were very strict about not giving out the swap pass unless the entire party was together, including the child who could not ride. FWIW this is not a complaint as I don't want to see this consideration abused and taken away, its just a heads up for those with young children.

If the child is tall enough and chooses not to ride then Fastpass is your best option. Some rides do have a chicken exit as PP's mentioned but the child will still have to wait the line and then leave via the chicken exit. I would just get a FP for those who want to ride and then take turns waiting or experiencing something else with the other child.

Just to make things clear ... you can PARENT SWAP at the Chicken Exit. Everyone waits togther and then one parent stays with the child(ren) while the other rides. The waiting parent can ride when the first parent gets off the ride.
