The more you can encourage him to have a seat, the longer he'll last, and not just the first day, but the rest of the trip. I'd also encourage you to carry a printed photo of him, and consider putting his name, phone number, etc. on a tag inside his clothes. WDW is quite safe, but I still think it's a good idea with any small child.
And please, when he is a little older, have him memorize his address and phone number. I have been floored by the number of MIDDLE school kids who are unable to recite this information!
Thanks for the tips! Yes, we are taking a double stroller, I just wanted to allow him the choice to walk. I also have inserted our name, resort, etc in to a Kid ID tag that is worn inside his clothes. THanks for the printed photo tip, I would have never thought of that!
And just to clarify, my son has been walking since he was 12 months old so he can keep up with the best of us when he wants to!

For our girls, it was a bigger pain to use the leash than to just hold their hands. It gave them too much freedom and they were wrapping the tail around poles and bench legs and our legs.
I also realize that all children are different and this was simply our experience attempting to use harnesses.
