Hubby and I watched the Undiscovered WDW on the Travel Channel last night and hubby seemed interested in the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Since I seem to be the one doing all the planning, our activities seem to be all the things I want to do. This is the first input I have gotten from him, and I would really like to make this trip fun for him as well.

Does anyone have any info on this tour? What does it cost, when, etc? Where can I go to get more info?

Thanks for the help.

The DW and I did the tour when we were on our honeymoon. We definitely thought it was worth it. We had been several times and this taught us a little more of the inside scoop. It is alot of walking and would not take young ones as to me it would spoil the magic. I cannot remember how much it cost, but it was worth it.

Hi LOLATUCK! :wave2:

We did the Keys to the Kingdom Tour in Dec. last year. We loved the tour. It was freezing cold when we went (we were totally unprepared in our shorts!) The cost was about $58 pp or so. (if you have an AP, it's 15% off).

It was a 5 hour tour. And we had lunch at the Columbia house (included in price). The tour is ALOT of walking, so be prepared. And we went on 2 rides. (Huanted Mansion and Jungle Cruise). The tour guide gave us ALOT of info and history of the park and Walt Disney himself.

At lunch, we received a special KTTKT pin and at sign in we received a button w/ our name on it.

We went to the utilidors, and back stage where all the parade floats were stored.

Hope this helps! ENJOY!

young ones are actually not allowed on this tour anyway...I believe you have to be 16 years old to take this tour.

It's a great tour...my DH and I did this on our honeymoon as well. I didn't think it was too much walking...no more than I would have done at a normal day at MK.

Totally worth the money! Even if you don't learn too many new things...it's great to look at the park from a "different" angle.

DH and I did this tour in Jan. It was our favorite part of our trip and DH especially enjoyed it and he is not a fanatic like me. It is perfect for the seasoned MK visitor. It really shows you a different side to the park along with tons of insight and secrets. They are really careful to protect the magic for the little ones. Columbia Harbour House was wonderful. You will really enjoy this tour!!

I'll give another thumbs up for this tour! Just went on it with my mom 2 days ago. Our tour guide CM was Mark, and he was fabulous!

It did take about 5 hours...fair amount of walking, but I figure you'd likely be doing that touring the parks anyway! Attractions we visited were TTA, Philharmagic, and Haunted Mansion (darn, I was hoping to go on the Jungle Cruise like some of you guys). Lunch at Columbia Harbor House was yummy!!

It was lots of good info, and as much as consider myself fairly knowledgeable with regards to WDW, I learned plenty!

When we went backstage, we saw the lots on either side of Main Street USA and learned about CM stuff/costuming and saw the utilidors. I don't think they are currently taking people to the parade staging area by Frontierland, though I have seen that area while running the marathon.

I was fascinated by what we learned...and would highly recommend it. :)

Ironz, was Mark tall w/ blond hair? I think was there when we did our tour. He wasn't our tour guide though, (Carol was) but I remember Mark was So hilarious and he was very sweet.

I'd like to add another question here. My wife and I will be visting WDW in June. This is our 7th trip together and we've never done any of the backstage tours. I had seriously considered the KTTK tour this time around, however, when we go my wife will be almost 7 months pregnant. Is there too much walking on this tour for a pregnant woman to handle? She'll be sure to drink plenty of water, but I'm worried about the amount of walking.

Thanks,
Greg

We loved the tour when we took it in September.

ibleedblue: I don't think it's more walking than normal touring. They take you all over the park and underneath, but you stand and talk a lot as well. If your wife can tour the park for five hours, I think she'd be fine with this. If you're real concerned, talk to the cm who makes the reservations. They are full of information and would probably be able to tell you if he or she thinks it too much. You can always rent her wheelchair for the tour.

He wasn't our tour guide though, (Carol was)

QJ411: Isn't Carol great?! She's a friend of mine (we worked together at a TDS here in PA). Carol won the 1998 National Trivia Competition that the company used to have for the stores' cms. I was with her at DL when she won, and got her own parade down Main St. We actually did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour when we were in DL that year, but it's a little different.

I would highly recommend the KTTK tour, especially if Carol is the guide. It is defiantely worth the $!:D

Can you ask when you make the reservations which CM will be doing the tour? I've seen the names of some of the CM tour guides in this and other threads about the KTTKT...most are highly praised, but a couple were apparently only mediocre. Thanks for any info! :D

QJ411, nope...different Mark. But he was awesome!! And you can tell he loves all things Disney! :)

OMG!!! Yes Carol was SO cool! And she actually talked about the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour in DL! OMG, what a small "world". She was very informative and boy did she know her stuff on Walt. She was so cute and humble, after her speech at the end...I started clapping and she blushed and said "oh stop"...then she was..ok ok, u can clap for me. then everyone started clapping. We had a great time, tell her thanks for us!

::yes:: :wave:
