We are going on this tour this Monday 3/10, and the weather forecast is now showing rain :worried:, and my question is……

How much of this tour is outside?

Up until this morning there was a small percentage of rain and it’s now changed, which means we need to change what we are going to wear that day.

Thanks for your input on this

I would say at least half or more.....normal walking from attraction to attraction and wandering about.....there is the utilidoor part, which probably is 30 min-1 hour, but I was amused that the parts we went to were the exact parts that I used to walk when I would go get my costume and go to work and then sometimes take things to lost and found.....like....MAYBE 10% of the tour was a part I didn't regularly walk at work (we went for my friend's birthday who had never worked for WDW)

Thank you for your post - it is much appreciated and helps me know what to expect 🙂

Can I ask who you were friends with?

@slo I'm jealous, always have wanted to do KTTK tour! Maybe on my solo in November. Have a wonderful time at Disney with Katie!

Thank you my friend! :goodvibes

We’ve been waiting g a long time to do this tour since Katie had to be over 18 to go. I’ll have to try and remember to let you know what we thought of it. I’m really hoping the threat of rain doesn’t put a damper on the experience.

We got quite a bit of rain.

I think your tour guide can influence how long you are outside. We stayed in the utlitdoor part for perhaps 45 minutes.

There are places to stop outside, yet under cover, while your guide talks.

Obviously you have to make it between buildings and walk main street, and that is when you could get wet.

I was worried that they may cancel because of lightning, but I think now they try to keep going. Thunder did not stop us.

This makes me feel a lot better about the tour possibly being in the rain.
Thank you for sharing your rainy experience with me :-)

I wish I could remember our guide's name. He took one for the team. Not everyone had an umbrella or hooded poncho, so he offered his umbrella and then stopped using it when no one took it. He was completely soaked by the end. Memorable times :).

I’ve done this tour a few times you will be outside for a lot of it - often under overhangs or right inside a bldg but at times out in the open and walking to different spots / you will be on rides and in the tunnels and lunch but a good portion is outside - they used to give you pinches not sure if they still do that

Isn’t the age for this tour 16?

I wouldn’t worry about rain. The guide will likely have ponchos and will try to avoid it the best they can. Enjoy

Thank you very much 🙂
I’m not sure if the age is 16 now - it might be. At one time it was 18 and I never looked to see if it changed. Truth be told, I haven’t looked in over 15 years or so. If it changed, i could have booked this tour for us 5 years ago. That’s alright, I think it’ll be worth the wait :smickey:

That’d be nice if they gave us ponchos. Then I don’t need to use the ponchos I bought for Tiana’s 🙂👍🏻

I did not see anyone being offered ponchos in January, but that is perhaps because we came prepared. On a related note, I once saw a guide duck into a store and grab one for a guest.

On another related note, if you get held at the entrance due to a delayed opening for an early tour, they will know that guests were delayed and will allow some time for that. They otherwise claim to not wait and not allow you to join late.

And yes, it is 16, and you must have an ID.

Thank you for saying you need an ID, because my DD21 wouldn’t be taking her drivers license into the park (at least she didn’t on our last trip). Thank you for posting that.

Our tour is at 8am.
What causes a delayed opening?
I just figured we go, tell the CMs we’re there for the tour and we go about our way.

We tried to skip the line and were told that would not be happening. Made for some anxious moments. We dined in the castle once and did skip the line, so not sure what changed. We were ahead of rope-drop, but we had to wait at the gate right up to our tour time.

There was a lot of chatter on the radios that morning. Perhaps this is normal. Not sure what the delay was all about, but minutes seemed like hours to us.

Yes, they want to make sure your are who you say you are, so they do check IDs.

You have no idea how grateful I am for this information.

We have had 8am breakfast dining at CP in the past, and totally skipped the line and got right in. I assumed this tour would be the same. Luckily we are staying at BLT and can go through security at the walk way by the resort and not wait in much of a line, but we will need to allow for walk time to the entrance.

Thank you again! 🙂

You're welcome.

It might be a seasonal thing, or when breakfast starts for the day, or if MK has early entry that day, or if everything isn't quite perfect and ready to go.

Speaking of skipping the line... Our "bonus" attractions were the Mansion and Jungle Cruise. Apparently that isn't always the case, but that is what I was hoping for and that is what we got.

Enjoy!

Has anyone been on the tour recently and want to share what the rides were?
