Friends want to book a fishing excursion(non DCL) which leaves at 1pm from Key West(I don't know exactly where it leaves from). Will they make it? What time can people actually walk off the ship in Key West?

Edited to change "boat" to "ship" so Buckaroo's Dad doesn't pick on me.

I would wait until they put the gang-plank down, wouldn't you BD?

Who are they going with and when do they get back. I would love to know how it works

Would like to know also - would make my DH's trip!! thanks.

Ok, here's some details on the fishing. My friend's DH is an avid fisherman. He fished at CC last year and had a fabulous time. Because that is not available this year, she is looking into alternatives. He MUST fish on the cruise. Anyway, the reason this particular company is their first choice is that 1)they do 1/2 day charters and 2)you can split a charter instead of having to charter the whole boat. They're not sure yet if it will work out because the 1/2 day charter leaves at 1pm and they're thinking he won't make it. They are in touch with this company for details. Anyway, here's the link:

If it all works out, they will be doing this next week and I'll let you all know.

The rest of his family is going on a DCL snorkeling excursion so he will have to wander off and find this on his own.

Key West in May was arrival time of noon and all ashore at 12:30 according to the Navigator and I think that is very close to the actual time. Might have even been a little earlier. I know we were pulling in when we got out of the DVC member presentation and they gave the all ashore call while we were eating lunch up at Topsiders.

Sonya - what is the address and I will let you know exalty how to get there if they are walking and the short cuts - remember this is Shirley an ol' conch from Key West -
Do you go next week? You should have gotten the pamplets etc that I send out at no charge - there are all kinds of discounts in the stuff I send out - Norm and I are due to go down at the end of the month if by the Grace of God is still doing good.
Anyhow drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com
Always

Shirley,
That's so kind of you! I didn't request the pamphlets because we are just going to do the DCL snorkel/sail excursion and then wander around town a bit. How far is the "southernmost point" from where the ship docks? Can we walk it? Are there any "must see" shops or attractions?

In regards to the fishing, I couldn't find an address on the website. It seems like the link is to a reservations company that hooks you up with the appropriate people. I'm not quite sure. You could click on the link I gave and see if you can figure it out. My friend is calling them directly anyway to see if it can be worked out. I'll let you all know!

You can walk it, but be advised it is a LONG walk (maybe 20 blocks--I can't recall exactly how far it was!) We started walking it last year, but got a bit tired and HOT so we bought trolley tickets, hopped on the trolley and rode around Key West (including to the Southernmost Point) The good thing about the trolley is that we could get off at any point, look around for a while, then hop on the next one. It went all over Key West and was quite enjoyable. They have many stops to catch the trolley.
