Key West trolley/train questions!!!

We would like to go on the tour at key west, but the one where you can hop on and off, rather than the 1.5 hour non-stop tour. Do I need to book this in advance, or can I just turn up when we get there? Is it the trolley or the train that I need? Where does it depart from?!

Hello there - the one you are speaking of is the Island bones bus to which for one cost, you can get off and on - all of these tour chains have stations right there at Mallory Square - you get off the ship, walk outside of Mallory Square and anything and everything you would like to do is THERE - Key West is a small island and just about everything is reachable.
Hope this will help -----PS as I always warn - be aware of the Tee shirt shops - know what you are paying for BEFORE you hand over your credit card - know what everything is going to cost you before you pay for it - look at your receipt before you leave the shops - remember imprints are very costly so make sure you know the exalt cost before proceeding. I know the overcharge can happen - it did to me for over $400.00 and I am an ol' conch that knew better

Hi Debs! We've done the trolley on our own in the past and plan to do it again in December. We book our tickets in advance to save a few dollars but you don't need a reservation. You can walk right up to the booth and buy your ticket. I have heard if you book through DCL then you are on the trolley that doesn't stop, but if you do it on your own it will take you to 12 or so stops around the island. We loved it.

Do you think the full circuit would hold the attention of a 4 yr old!!!? I was wondering whether being on the train would be enough as he loves those!!!
