Up at 5.30 and Theresa wrote up the holiday journal while I made tea and bought my fishing license on line.

Here is a link to the web site in case anyone needs to get one.

Theresa worked out why her phone wasn't working; she should have contacted orange before we'd left home. She'd never needed to with Vodafone in the past so didn't know.
I went down to the marina and did a couple of hours fishing, didn't catch anything but I did get a few pulls and follows so it was fun.

We decided to go to John Pennekamp Park today. It cost $9 to get in and $51.60 for the glass bottom boat ride. We booked onto the 12.15 trip so we had time to do a couple of the trails in the park first. On the mangrove trail we spotted a silk spider and got a few photos of it.

On the Tamarind trail we spotted some of the trees James had pointed out the day before, it has peeling red bark and the locals call it the tourist tree as it resembles the peeling skin on the tourists.

We had time for a snack so we thought we'd try something new. We got a corndog. It was horrible. The cornbread bit was alright but the hotdog inside was like chewing on a condom.

We were a bit underwhelmed by the glass bottom boat trip. It was about 2½ hours in all.

The coral reef wasn't as colourful as we thought it was going to be and Theresa wasn't feeling too good. She has never suffered with seasickness before but she did have to go up on deck to get some air.

When we moved off of drifting over the reef she soon recovered.

We spotted a pod of dolphins on the way back so that was entertaining.

We called into Winn Dixie on the way home and bought chicken in yellow rice and Cuban bread from the deli counter which we had for dinner, and also bought some ham, cheese and tomatoes for lunch the next day. It looks a bit washed out in the picure but tasted great.

We sat out on our balcony and ate our dinner followed by a couple of pieces of our Cheesecake Factory cheesecake.

Theresa wrote up the holiday journal while I did a bit more fishing and caught my 1st fish in Florida.

I didn't know what it was to start with but Ive found out it was a Blue fish.

We also got some more sunset pictures before watching some tv while eating roasted almonds and plantain chips.

Hotdog sounds bad. Nice fish you caught there.fab photos.

Well done on your first fish - shame the glass bottom boat tour wasn't up to expectations.

We've done that exact same glass bottom boat trip and I got sooooo seasick

What a shame that the corn dog was bad. I love corn dogs. The best ones are to be had at Disneyland. Your dinner looked lovely and well done on catching your first fish. The sunset was gorgeous.

Terrific spider photo. Sounds like you made good use of your time and managed to get yourselves satisfactorily fed finally. I do have a question for you, Tony, that I'm afraid it's rather personal, but I'm dying to know. I'll just whisper it. (How do you know what chewing on a condom is like?)

Hi Susan

I don't; but it was very rubbery so I used my imagination.

Tne, your experience on the glass-bottomed boat was exactly what put us off. All the reviews I read on Trip Advisor said that people had gotten scik and I thought I could well do without that.

Another lovely, relaxing day in the Keys. Not keen on the spider photo - we saw loads of them at the Alligator Farm in St Augustine but didn't realise what species they were so thanks for that info. Are they poisonous?
