It looks like we will have to decide if we want to see the Famous Sunset or go to a show where we could get picked to win a cruise. It seems the more people who skip the show to see the Sunset, the greater our chances of one of our group being picked for the Hot Seat!

Any advise from previous Western sailors?

I would definitely opt for the sunset!!!
Your chance of getting picked is still relatively small (we've seen Mousekeeter several times on the 3-day cruises and it's never even been close), but the sunset is a sure thing. Granted, I am not a fan of "Millionaire," but I find Mouseketeer to be just as slow-moving as its namesake. A lot of people (especially those with little kids) leave early, and towards the end the audience is blurting out the answers, probably to keep themselves interested. It would be nice to get in the hot seat, but the odds are against it. Usually hubby and I just go to try and get on the panel (those pins make great traders). Unfortunately, although hubby has been picked three times, I just don't have the knack...I've NEVER been on the panel!
We saw the Key West sunset from Palo, and it was fantastic...just as magical as everyone describes.

Ok Dave Ok Barb - I guess I am being partial but I guess being a Key West conch and growing up there for sooooo many years never thought much about the sunset or sunrise for that matter for many years, but when the celebrations to the sunset was started by the hippies years ago, I took notice and I have to say they are awesome - it is like a red fire ball falling into the Gulf - in fact I have found myself expecting to hear the zizzling sound from it going into the water -----I believe all the hallaballo around Mallary Square takes away from the beauty of it all ------but then I am just a conch that loves her hometown and guess I expect it to be "as once upon a time".
Hope both of you are doing great ----- Dave you and yours when you get the chance come and see Norm and I same to you Barb.
Take care and have a great week.
Always
Shirley

I thought I read in the Navigators that Barb posted that it was Morty the Magnificient on Key West Night. I thought the show was changed and that Who Wants to be a Mouseketeer is on Monday Night at Sea? Am I wrong? We are going on June 22nd and I was hoping that it was the Morty show, we would forego that show and see the Sunset.

the mouseketeer show was NOT on key west nite that I remember because we stood on our verandah and watched the sunset. I was picked as a panelist for the 6:30 show on the 5/25 western cruise so I KNOW that I did both things on different nites. hope that helps

Anyone know if Dominique and his flying circus cats are still at the sunset celebration?

Yep the cats are still preforming and still very popular and he still takes wonderful and caring care of his babies ---------------he has been there for quite sometime.

On the 5/11 cruise, sunset fell at 8 pm. We finished dinner at 7:45 went to Deck 10 and were at the Mousketeer show at 8:30.

Oops, can't believe I didn't realize it when I answered earlier...
the show IS changed to Morty. We were told on board that people didn't want so long to see a production show, so Morty was moved to an earlier night.
