We are sailing in 2 weeks and I had planned to do the tram/trolley tour in Key West but I heard that they dont stop anywhere, they just drive you by. I want to be able to go into the places and look around.
Should I cancel the tour and just do it by ourselves? We have a 5 and 6 year but they are good walkers. Also, how would I go about seeing everything? Can I pick up a map?
Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

so this past January when we went we decided to forego any shore excursions & just "wing it". Like the previous poster said everything you really need to see is within walking distance. We did the aquarium, shipwreck museum & the Mel Fisher Maritime Museum (my DH is a history nut so he loves these type of things). I do believe there is one trolley company that allows you to get on & off at your leisure & see sights outside of the main town, i.e. Ernest Hemingway's house, the Southern most tip of the US, etc. You can always hop on once you get there. So no need to book ahead in Key West. Also make sure you stop in the little strip mall next to the aquarium, they have a little bakery/candy store in there that is the "Home of the 1/2 lb Chocolate Chip Cookie" you MUST try!! Also I recommend the conch fritters & frozen Key Lime pie!!!! Can't wait to go back!!! Enjoy!!
