I know I have seen this mentioned before but cannot for the life of me find the website.

Does anyone know how to look up if a particular sailing to Key West is using the regular dock or the Navy dock? Looking specifically at the 12/7 sailing from Miami.

I have been told that the Navy Pier, while ok is a hassle/pain in the butt. Does anyone have any particular opinions on this?

Thanks in advance!

We have visited twice and used both docks. The Navy dock requires you to ride a golf cart type train from the ship to the drop off point in town (it was short - maybe a 5 minute ride). The regular dock allows you to walk right off the ship into town. I don't think having to use the train was a big deal and it was fun to ride through the Navy base and see the cute houses.

Did you see any navy ships, or do they not dock close to them(security reasons?) We have a cruise booked there in 2021. I'd love to see some military ships. Thanks

We have done both and not a hassle at all. When we first went we docked in town and there was a ship in the naval yard. The second time we docked at the naval yard no ships but there was a research vessel. We took the ride into town they come frequently and and it was fun to see something different.
Either way it will be fine.

Key West is a Naval Air Station, so you won't see nearly as many ships as you might if you went to one of the big naval bases.

That's OK. I'd be excited to see just one ship!! Grew up in a town with an Air Force base and married an Air Force pilot, so I've seen a lot of jets, but have never seen a Navy ship.

Hi! We are on that cruise as well and when I looked it up it said we docked in town. I just can't remember where I saw it! I think on that docks website.

We were in Key West a year ago, docked at the town dock. The Navy was doing a practice with helicopters dropping soldiers into the water and then had zodiacs pick them up, we watched from our balcony, was very cool!
