Thinking of staying at Disneys Key West resort next year, any advise, pros and cons greatly appreciated!

Pros:

1. Large studios and villas
2. Low point requirement
3. Beautiful grounds and landscaping
3. Full sized balconies
4. Large theme pool with waterslide and recreation (playground, tennis)
5. Lovely boat ride to Downtown Disney
6. Parking right outside of your villa

Cons:

1. Large layout of resort that provides privacy also means your villa may be quite a hike from the Hospitality House
2. Somewhat "dated" looking decor despite room refurbishment (this is just one persons opinion...don't flame me please.

We love Old Key West and will be staying there in the fall. I would definitely give it a try.

If distance from the Hospitality House is an issue for you, keep in mind there is a booking category to be near the HH.

Pros:
1) SPACE, lots of space - this is a great resort if you are traveling with a large family or extended family. The living/dining area is easily twice as large as other DVC villas. The kitchen is much larger as well - and the patios/balconies hold a full table and chairs as opposed to barely space for two chairs. Studios are larger than other studios as well, but not as significant a difference as the 1 and 2 bedrooms.

2) The new refurbishment is very nice. They feel like high end beach condos.

3) Parking right outside your villa

4) Low points cost, easy availability

Cons:
1) Longer distance to the parks

2) No good counter service restaurant - Good's to Go offerings are minimal.

My family of eight stayed here three years ago and we loved it. From the theme, to the size of the studios we stayed in (2 queens per room), we could not have been happier. From a points perspective, staying here was "cheaper" than other options we were looking at. The only thing we found to be subpar was the transportation to and from the resort. Overall, one of our family favorites.

None , We stayed their last november and completely loved it .And if you you get booked into a room that is a good bit fromm HH ,then just drive your car over its very easy to do .

I agree, there are no cons. It is away from the madness but close enough to enjoy everything. the grounds are beautiful and if you have to walk it is a pretty walk. and as everyone has already said, the room sizes are crazy!

One other con, for lots of people, is the necessity to walk up and down the stairs to your villa unless you're on the first floor. We just think of it as exercise to justify all the junk food we eat! Also, the villas open directly outide, no interior hallways, which some people don't like. To us, they seem more like our apartments and less "hotel-y".

The only CONS I can think of:

No elevators in some buildings. You may have to walk up and down stairs.
You probably won't want to leave!

This is my favorite DVC resort by far. We've stayed in all of the onsite resorts except for BW (no interest) and OKW is in a class by itself IMHO. Parking right outside your villa, feels more like a condo than a hotel, huge rooms, low points requirements and beautiful landscaping all make it a top notch destination.

Can't wait we'll be there in 2 weeks!

Our favorite resort. The only con is lack of a good counter service. We've never had a bad room. The one bedrooms are amazing.

We own at OKW, and I would say the only con I know of is no room service. You can order pizza, but my kids love to order room service. Maybe it is a con for them and a positive for me because it cost less to eat pizza. :thumbsup2
