Key West Kayaking

I noticed this excursion while browsing the Navigator. Has anyone done this? I would love to do this with my kids, 12 and 9, but know nothing about kayaking. What is the experience like?

Hello Ann,
You have to be care of "Kayaking" in Key West - I know that one company does take you through man made water which lies behind home built after much of the salt ponds were filled in which I thought was a huge farce - I have spoken with some folks that have taken it and from what I understand it goes from Stock Island through mangroves in cow Key which is the bridge coming in to Key West - supposely you can see all types of "wild life" --I still am not convince - I have spoke to numberous of my classmates who also grew up there and they all start laughing and saying what else will strangers come up with to part tourist with their monies - --- now I do have pamplets etc on things to do in Key West and they do have 800 numbers you can call -----I hadn't had the opportunity to check them out while I was down there simply due to the fact I had to take care of family matters, but I still intend to do so when I get down there next time -----if you are interested in this information, you are most welcomed to write me at snelsonbrown@aol.com ----the information is all at no cost except the stamps to cover it --

Boy, Shirley, thanks for being honest. If I hadn't checked the board, I surely would have booked this for us.
So on that note.....
I have always wanted to visit the south of Florida, see the swamp lands with a good guide and "wildlife". Are there any reputable companies that do that? Maybe one of those cool boats with the big fan like they used to have on Mutual of Omaha's Wildlife Kingdom (ok, now I've aged myself).
