Has anyone done this in Key West? Is it worth the money? It sounds like fun.

We rented from Reefmobile on the corner of Duvall & Green Sts.

We rented a 4 seater for 2 hours for about $80. 2 seaters are cheaper & they have 1/2 day rates that are a better deal, but we just wanted to tour for a little while.

They go a max of 17 mph & you cannot leave Old Town. The traffic is so heavy 17 mph seems fast!

They were alot of fun & Reefmobile was great to deal with. They give you a great map to see the sights with.

Thanks dianthus!

I tried calling their number but it was disconnected. I called Key West Cruisers and they quoted me the same price and will pick us up at the pier. Anything to say about them?

We rented from Key West Cruisers. They picked us up at a hotel near where the ship docks, and took us to the rental location. We rented one only because we scheduled a "Scavanger hunt" while in KW and knew we'd be all over the place. The car was well kept, and worked fine. I tried to reserve it ahead of time but was told it was not a busy time so no need to reserve. We just used the cell phone to call them once we were in port.
Driving in the city was pretty easy, however...parking was a different story!
Would we do it again? YES, if the weather was as hot as it was in Oct. If the weather was cooler I think we would just walk.
my advice...walk around a bit first.THEN rent one if you want to see more. If you in less then good health or have any mobility issues, OR have children to "drag" along then the cars are a life saver.

We rented from Key West Cruisers, were NOT satisfied. They quoted us one rate and charged another - it was either $120 or $150 for half a day. (the larger size cart) Yes they do pick you up at the pier, but they REFUSED to even accept a reservation or a request for pickup until we were OFF the ship. They kind of have a 'lock' on the market so I guess customer service takes a back seat. I personally thought it was a ripoff. Again, parking is such a premium in KW at least those things are smaller. Also, there really aren't many places to go anyway. We lived there for 2 years so were somewhat familiar with the area. Still I personally feel they are priced too high.

Are these cars the same as the golfcarts??

We rented a car in September...it was excellent. We thought 4 hours would be good, as we knew exactly where we wanted to go. We stopped at the booth near 1 Duval Street, near the Pier house resort. They picked us up...took us to the little car. Gave us the phone number in case there were any problems. The guys couldn't have been nicer. By the time we were done eating...we looked at our watch and said..we could have this thing back in two hours...so we drove it back...they got all concerned..is something wrong...we said no, no no..it was great...it just didn't take us as long as we thought to do everything we wanted. They immediately said...oh, ok..we won't charge you for the last two hours...they fixed the contract and we were on our way.

We couldn't believe how great they were...we would definately use them again. We couldn't have been more impressed.

Hi Lori,
This is Shirley - I have spoke to Phil and sandy from Key West Cruisers and they are SUPPOSE to give the cruisers who have my business card 20% off the regular prices (conch rates)- they offered to cut me a check for anyone that I sent to them, but I refused their offer and asked them to please extend that monies to the cruisers - supposely they agreed to - I didn't find them that easy to work with and I have never found out if they have "honored" their promises - I didn't have the time to stop by and see them while I was in Key West last weekend, but I will be going back in January and do intend to do so - I know that they will not take reservations and will shuttle anyone back and forth from the cruise ships - they are located on the corner of Truman and Duval Street - it is a fun way to go since traffic is horrendous in Key West - too many cars and no where to park - "Old Town" is any place West of White Street - this is hard to understand - since the only divisions we had as conchs growing up there were by Bahama villages, cubans villages, etc but there was no problems with "crossing" any lines cause there were NONE - ahhhhh progress is on the march - I do have a great deal of information on Key West that you are most welcomed to - just drop me a note at snelsonbrown@aol.com
Always
Shirley
