"key to the world" card

I noticed this in the latest member clubhouse issue...

"To take advantage of any Member Perks, you must present your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card, and at times, a current "Key to the World" card imprinted with "DVC Member.""

I don't know if this has been asked already but, if not, what exactly is a "key to the world'? Is it simply a room key?

Yes, it's what they call a room key at any WDW resort.

Yes, Key to the World is your room key. Disney calls it that (I'm guessing) because many of the rental packages put the park passes on the room key...sort of a play on words like the ceremonial Key to the City the mayors present to dignitaries.

yes that seems to eliminate DVC members staying on cash at WDW resorts - I don't know if they entended that or not - but that is what it says.
