Key to the Kingdom Tour

When I was on the Keys to the Kingdom a number of years ago it was during some of the last performances of Spectromagic and we visited the parade warehouse and saw several floats (not lit).

In one section there were tons of bulbs on the floor and I picked up several and put them in my pocket.

Some months later I received a mailing to purchase a genuine Disney Parade bulb. No thanks....I've got a few already!

Do you book it at 180 days like ADR's? I have decided we will be doing the tour & want to make sure we book it as soon as possible.

You can definitely book it well in advance. Because the tour is ony offered a couple of times a week, it's a good idea to book as far in asdvance as you can. If I remember correctly, there are about 15 or 20 people on a tour. It's really fun and informative! We had a fabulous tour guide (Matthew), and he made our tour an unforgettable experience!

Thanks but I'm trying to figure out how far in advance you book it? I figure 180 days like ADRs but want to make sure.

Reviews all sound very positive. Did anyone find that knowing the secrets or seeing the hidden or off stage areas ruined the magic? Kind og like know how the magician does a trick.

I've just booked this for our February trip - and was just wondering does anyone know how many people are on each tour?

Normally, it's around 20. But we lucked out and went the week before Christmas when they limit the tour to 10 people. :)

One of the previous posters mentioned that they have already reserved their tour for June, so I would say yes.

I've done this twice. The first time, I was by myself, and we went on Pirates, HM and Jungle Cruise. The second time, I was with my husband and we only went on HM and Jungle Cruise. The lunch was delicious and we had a great tour guide each time. I'm not sure if it's the same during the less busy times of the year, but they generally run about three of these tours on a given day. While they say 20 max, I think think they really try to hold it to about 15-16 as I don't think I've ever been in a group of 20.

There's a tour at DLR that includes a tour of Walt's private apartment. That's the tour we're going on the next time we go there.

It only made me appreciate it more, plus it was fun to say I saw _____ but I can't tell you more, we went _____ but I can't tell you more..........so much fun teasing my family and coworkers! I tell them if they want to know, they can go take the tour!!!!

I think what surprised me the most was the startling contrast between onstage and offstage, one are is bright and vibrant and awesome, the other is blah, boring and utilitarian.

Be sure to ask your questions OFF STAGE in any behind-the-scenes area. You'll get more detailed answers than asking the same question ON Stage with other (non tour) guests nearby.

I suggest you book early! I tried 60+ days out for my upcoming trip and it was already full.

I really wanted to do it, I have heard nothing but good reports, but I had to settle for the Undiscovered Future World tour instead (which I've heard is good, but not quite as good as the MK one).

To me it only enhanced the experience. There really isn't a whole lot of information that can't be found in the various books about WdW. However the combination of description with the visuals can't be beat. Also what Disney fan wouldn't love to see the utilidors.

I called today & after waiting 45 mins, definitely not the 12 they said when I got on the phone lol, & did verify it can be booked at 180 days. So April 1st is my day for both ADRs & tours. Thank god I'm on vacation that day. So can't wait. :) I'm so excited to do this tour. Now I just have to figure out what day & time. But that's all the fun in planning. :)

Not at all! :)

Don't want to hijack this thread, but since my question is also about KTTK.... I'm planning on doing Marceline to Magic then 3 days later KTTK. Has anyone done both of these? Is this an ok idea or our they too similar? Thank you! I'm also doing the Backstage Safari tour while I'm there....

My husband and I did the tour in December and loved it.

You meet at City Hall in MK at 9:15 and they give you a bottle of water.

The tour lasts five hours with lunch at Columbia Harbor House.

We had a good time and thought it was worth it.

It is about $65 pp with a discount if you have Disney Visa card.

It is over 5 hours if you have any problems walking.

Thanks for all the info and great reviews. I am definitely considering going this April with my DD18 who is a senior in High School . This is my 10th trip to WDW and probably my last for a long time to come as she will be off to college in the fall. No more travel buddie :sad1:

Also thanks for the info on the Disney Visa discount...Love the Disboards :woohoo:

You won't be disappointed with your tour. I think that it's true that each tour is a little bit different. On my tour, we actually rode 3 rides (I believe most guides only take you on 2)- Pirates, Jungle Cruise, and Haunted Mansion. I think that she shortened our look at the Splash Mountain area. It was a great tour and knowing the "secret" stuff only enhanced our appreciation of the park for the rest of the trip.

Our tour is the early morning one with entry before the park opens. Anyone know if they'll allow us to take pictures on Main Street with the streets virtually empty? Definitely wouldn't be something many park goers get to do!

Absolutely. If you are in the park and have time before the tour starts, you are fine taking pictures on Main Street.
