i'm not a coffee drinker, but my husband is. i'm thinking of getting him either a keurig or tassimo maker. can anyone compare/contrast these brands? or make another brand suggestion?

I know nothing about the keurig.

My dd has had the tassimo for a year and uses it daiily for the lattes. She likes it

I have both and love them both. I started w/ a Keurig a few years ago, it broke. I bought another, it broke, and I was annoyed, but my sil told me to call them and they'll send me a new one for free (they make their money from the sale of the coffee more than the coffee maker itself). In the meantime, I bought a Tassimo.

I use my Tassimo more - because they have a French Vanilla flavor coffee I love. When people are over, they tend to use the Keurig (but probably because they're used to it).

Compare/Contrast... the Keurig has to heat up for a couple of minutes when you turn it on (unless you keep it on 24/7 which I know some people who do. I just don't). The Tassimo doesn't require that warm up time. (really no biggie though). The Tassimo seems to make a hotter cup of coffee. The Tassimo can do lattes (with the foaming milk). My dd LOVES hot chocolate from the Tassimo, with the foaming milk.

If I had to pick only one, I'd pick the Tassimo, because of the foaming ability.

It really depends on the type of coffee your dh drinks the most. If he's a latte drinking man then I'd say the Tassimo. If he drinks mostly coffee go with the keurig.

I was at Bed,Bath and Beyond the other day picking up more coffee for my Tassimo and Gavelia has a new flavor Peppermint Mocha! OMG it's so good!!!! I'm headed back today to pick up more!

We got a free Tassimo in the mail last year (my coffee drinking obsession must have gotten to their marketing folks - LOL!) and tried it out for a little while, but we stuck with the Keurig. The Tassimo is down in the basement gathering dust.

I liked the options available with the K-Cups better than the choices for the T-discs.

And now that Starbucks has moved from T-discs to K-Cups (haven't bought any yet though), that clinched the decision.

We really like our Keurig, despite its sometimes quirky behavior and having the have it replaced under the warranty after 11 months (so we are on machine #2).

If he likes really great coffee, you might consider Nespresso. It's more of a convenient espresso maker & really amazing!

We have had both and we prefer the Keurig. I like the fact that we can use our own coffee.

I completely agree with this! Even about the Peppermint Mocha(drinking one now).

I will add, I do not like just coffee, I love cappacinos, lattes, mochas, and hot chocolate, which makes the Tassimo perfect for me. In fact, I just got a brand new Tassimo today because the old one I had did not take the unverisal filters(all new ones do) and find filters for the old one were hard.

I will also add that I found a website comparing both and since I only drink coffee drinks and not actual coffee is why I kept with the Tassimo, in other words, if you are a mainly a coffee drinker the Kruieg is the better option and if you are a coffee drink drinker, like me, the Tassimo is the better choice! Hope this helps!:goodvibes

Love my Tassimo! Have had it over a year and works perfect! Can't wait to go buy some peppermint mochas now, thanks for the heads up!

Having played with Keurig for 2 days I'm not sure its for me. I feel like the coffee is watery. Even when using my k cup with Starbucks Kona its just to soft. Maybe I should look into a tassimo or a nespresso machine.

Just shopped for a Tassimo yesterday, and I have to say that I think Bed Bath & Beyond has the best price right now. The Bosch T45 model was 139, on sale for 129, plus you get a pack of free discs. Add the 20% off coupon to that and it comes out to about $103.

Can you change cup sizes with your Keurig? I know where are some coffees I need to make the smaller cup with so it will be stronger.

Just tried the Starbucks house blend on my Keurig and it is NOT nearly as good as it was with Tassimo. Also, it is way overpriced in my humble opinion. I was thoroughly dissapointed as I bought a lot of Starbucks for my Tassimo. I think it is because the brewing system is different.

I use Newman's Own on my Keurig. It's the biggest 'bold' that I can find at a reasonable price. There are others that I like but they are not at Costco.

Tassimo is having a great sale today - 20% off with free ship. and a 25% off with a brewer package which takes it to BBB pricing. But- you don't get the many varieties with Tassimo and if you want variety that there is - you must mail order. BBB used to carry quite a few...now they are minimal with tons of kcups instead.

I do love the cremas and lattes from Tassimo - much more than Keurig.

We have a Keurig and love it. DBF is a coffee drinker (no frou frou drinks) and uses it constantly, still telling me it was the best thing I ever bought for him. I never thought that I'd use it as much as I do, but since we've had it I've made lots of delicious Republic of Tea green tea every morning for breakfast. I do buy some of the K Cups, but mostly I use loose tea and just steep it in the hot water.

The speed is great, and so is the flavor. There's also a very large availability, so there's something for everyone. Also, you can use your own coffee (in the filter), tea (in your cup), or hot chocolate (same thing) if you'd like.

:thumbsup2

I always read posts about Tassimo/Keurig waiting for someone to mention the Nespresso. From what I can tell, it seems to be more popular in Europe.

I have tried so hard to like the Keurig but no matter which coffee I choose, it always had a strange flavor to me. Hard to explain, almost metallic or something??? I'm guessing it has to do with the way the machine extracts it-the Keurig has 15 bars of pressure whereas the Nespresso has 19.

DH came home with the CitiZ and Milk machine two years ago and it was instant love--- OMG how can they make coffee THAT good??

Williams Sonoma had all of their Nespressos on sale for 2 days this week 40% off. Yeah, I bought another one.:rolleyes1

OP-- If your DH likes strong coffee, look into a Nespresso. I can make lattes and cappucinos with my machine-- I have the frother with it. They are sold in Macy's I think, as well as Williams Sonoma and on Amazon too.

First let me say I do not drink any hot beverages or any coffee, so I don't use the machine in our house.

Last year husband wanted an immediate coffee maker machine. I wraped up an IOU for a machine. He did a bunch of research and decided for him the best option was the Tassimo.

He has had it nearly a year and is a huge fan. He likes it so much he bought one for his office (not for "the office", but for his individual office at work).

Our Keurig broke after less than a year. My sister's on her third one already. Still seems to have a lot of problems. I would not recommend it.

Yup I guess I'm used to drinking mud (french press) I feel like with Keurig it just lacks flavor. Even if I use a finer grind I think it just runs through the coffee to fast.

We have a Keurig, and plan to try a tassimo this weekend. Any opinions on what machine makes a better latte?
Tassimo
nespresso
Etc?
Thank you!

We have a Tassimo, and I like their lattes, espressos, cappuccinos, etc. the only thing I've noticed is that it's harder to find the cups for it in our area. You can get them online with no problem, and I live in the middle of nowhere, so they may be more available where Lu are. We've hand ours for almost three years and haven't had an problems with it. My SIL had a Keurig, butive never used it so I can't comment on that.
