Its time for my Christmas list :cloud9: Lets start with my confession I am a Starbuck addict  I am not looking for a coffee maker to replace my trips entirely to Starbucks but I am looking for an everyday YUMMY cup of Chai Tea Latte, Dreamy Hot Chocolate, delicious Flavored coffee, or cappacinno depending on how I feel that day. My hubby rarely drinks coffee so this is an ALL ME gift :lovestruc Ive read great things on both the Keurig and Tassimo and I understand I will need to buy pods and I am fine with that it will save me money in the long run if I have a cup of hot specialty drink to go right out of my home instead of stopping at Starbucks, 7-11, McDonalds, ect ect. Suggestions on either one of these and a preference? I want to be able to make more than just coffee =) With recommendations if you could give me the model to look for :goodvibes

I love my Keurig (so does DH) but I'm a plain jane coffee drinker. Don't care for flavored blends. I totally enjoy not wasting a pot no one drinks, and I definately like not cleaning a dirty pot w/ grounds. That said, I'm not happy with the recent cost hike in pods. They're now .55-.65 cents a pod. :( I have the middle of the road model (sorry don't know the #, I've had it awhile) with a timer which we never use. DH totally likes it, but tends to reheat his coffee as he likes it piping hot. Would I buy it again....absolutely!:surfweb:

.55-.65 cents a pod = 1 cup? Still cheaper that even the $1.00 McDonalds coffee that I then add my own creamer to :goodvibes So virtually no clean-up!? :cool1:

We used a Keurig machine for the longest time and recently replaced it with a Cuisinart. Our Keurig machine had some problems with always having to de-scale after almost every cup. We ran vinegar through the machine a few times and it would fix it for awhile, but then the warning would come back shortly after that so we decided it was time for a new machine. We used it for several years before replacing it. The cuisinart is working just fine and uses k-cups as well.

I would recommend using the reusable filter cup as I purchase my favorite flavored coffee and then fill it up in the morning. I believe this is cheaper than using the K-cups and I can find more variety by purchasing my own flavored coffee than searching for a k-cup flavor.

I also have an espresso machine. I found a recipe online for the pumpkin spice flavoring similar to Starbucks. So I've mastered making my own pumpkin spice lattes at home to save money. So I use two machines for my coffee fix - depending on how much time I have in the morning.

Do any of these do everything including expresso? I thought that was an option?

We have a Keurig and love it. It means my hubby can make a cup when he wants it and it hasn't been sitting out for hours. I drink a lot of tea and it works great for that too.

We actually got the solofill cup you can use with it and it works great. No filters to buy for it and can do any coffee or loose tea we want. We picked that one over the kcup reuseable one because it doesn't need filters and has a lid on it which seems to prevent the problems people have had with the kcup one.

Here is the link to the Solofill Cup http://www.amazon.com/Solofill-Refillable-K-Cup-Keurig-Brewers/dp/B004CXG07S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320858187&sr=8-1

I own a Tassimo and love it. If you are a latte drinker than that is the machine for you. But I am really disappointed because I bought the machine because they had Starbucks express t disk but have now stop making them for the Tassimo. It's really sad too because I mastered the white chocolate mocha lattes. The only espresso I can get locally now for my machine is Gavalia and well it's not as good as Starbucks.

Between the two, I'd go with the Keurig as you get so much more variety in pods and they are easy to find everywhere. I rank the Tassimo with the Senseo - I personally don't see them expanding and more likely disappearing eventually. I have a Keurig at home and at work and use it every day. However, I'm a "basic" coffee drinker - I like it bold and with minimal fuss.

Your other option is a Flavia machine if you want lattes, chocolate drinks, a more complex variety of drinks. The only downside is that you have to purchase the Flavia packets online. But, from what you say you're looking for, I'd take a look into it as it might fit your needs better than a Keurig. (I can't believe I said that, consdering how much I love my Keurig... :lmao: but it's not the right machine for fancier drinks).

I love my Keurig. I have never used a Tassimo so I can't comment on that one but I don't think you could go wrong with either. You should research the available k-cups/pods and prices to see what would suit your tastes and needs more. The popularity of the Keurig has increased in the past few years and you can find more and more coffee selections for the K-cups. I am so happy that Dunkin Donuts now has K-cups. :surfweb:

We have both and love both for different reasons. DH loves the Keurig because he drinks regular coffee. The Keurig only does traditional coffee. They do offer tea and hot chocolate K cups but none of those are great. I have the Tassimo because I prefer mochas, lattes, etc. I use the Tassimo to make a latte every morning. I use a little Hershey's syrup to make it more of a mocha. With the Tassimo you run an espresso disk and then a milk disk. In the summer I will make just espresso over ice and then add cold milk to have an iced drink. They have new Tdisks out to make mochas and peppermint mochas but I haven't tried those yet.

I think the Keurig is far superior for regular and flavored coffees. Much more variety of kcups available. I do think the Tassimo has the edge on the fancier drinks but they are really lacking in selection compared to the kcups.

If you like the occassional specialty drink but want a great cup of coffee everyday then I would say just get the Keurig and hit up Starbucks/McD's now and then for a specialty drink.

If you mainly drink the specialty drinks then I would get the Tassimo.

If you do both about equally, you probably will want to get both machines.

PS I worked at BB&B for about 3 years and we sold at least 20 Keurigs to every 1 Tassimo.

I got my Keurig in September for my birthday and I love it! Makes great coffee and so convenient :) My boyfriend doesn't enjoy coffee but his parents came Halloween weekend and enjoyed using it.

Mine came with the filter for loose coffee grounds. Have not gotten the chance to use it though, so can't comment on it. I would recommend buying one. I have heard of people having problems with their machines but I also have a friend who has had his for 5+ years. Hopefully, I'll have his kind of luck. Plus, there's a one year warranty on it.

Keurig now has Starbucks kcups. They are available in about 6 varieties. They are available in select stores right now and will be widely available in stores and on their website at the end of Dec. They are also making a couple Tazo tea kcups too. We love our Keurigs. Never any issues with them. We have a platinum at home, DH has a mini on his desk at the office and we have a mini in our camper. The variety of Kcups is wonderful and it is nice to be able to make a different coffee/tea/cocoa for each member of the family.

I have both also. You can make some awesome drinks with Tassimo.

Keurig is supposed to be getting Starbucks kcups this month.

Tassimo brews differently than Keurig. Keurig is a slower machine but still faster than a pot of coffee.

Tassimo seems to be more euro brands for variety. I find more that I like at Tassimo despite the smaller selection. I like the quality of the lattes and espressos made with Tassimo and also the cremas are very nice. Keurig is pretty much just a cup of coffee.

Keurig is definitely more popular. Tassimo disks were just hard to find if you didn't mail order it. Lowes and Target carried it but in limited supply. BBB was fairly good but that was it in my area.

We have both machines and I prefer the Keurig. The Tassimo takes forever to make a latte and since they no longer make Starbucks for the Tassimo, choices are limited. I have actually given my Tassimo machine to my husband for his office. The Keurig is my go to machine.

Tassimo all the way! We have both and while Keurig is good, it just makes a weak coffee IMO. While I know they did away with starbucks I just tried their brand new "dark" coffee today (just came out this past month) and its just as good if not better IMO.

I have a Tassimo and love it. We have a Keurig at work and like a PP I think it brews a weaker cup of coffee. I do have trouble finding the t-discs locally (so far I've found them at Macy's, Kohls and Target) but I order them off of Amazon in bulk and found I'm averaging about .30 -.35 per disc.

I love the Tassimo I reasearched for like a year before I bought and did got with the Tassimo. It makes awesome coffee, Cappacinos, Lattes and Machiattos. Cadbury has now come out with a new hot chocolate that im dying to try.

I went to check them out at BB&B and the guy there told me the Tassimo is definetly headed out the door =/
