Keurig stopped working

Mine is almost 11 months old and just started turning itself off. I called Keurig, we went through some things and they are sending me a new one :) I hope this one lasts longer than 11 months :confused3

Where did you all buy yours? Mine has been acting funky since about June, and when I called for a replacement they wanted to charge for shipping both ways- I really didn't want to pay that and risk getting another damaged machine. I went through all of the steps and it worked for a total of 1 brew, then problems came right back. I only use distilled water.

I brought it to Bed, Bath, and Beyond today and they exchanged it- no questions asked! :worship:

Had the same problem with ours and it was replaced before the warranty was up, but only after numerous calls and trials. My parents just started only brewing half cups and they have had it almost two years. I love the concept and my coffee, but these machines are pricey and they need to last more than one year!

LOL, sorry. I didn't check the date and just realized I replied to this thread in 2010.

I'm so glad you did!! Ours stopped working last week and I had no idea how to solve the problem.....now I know!!!

Mine stopped working too. It won't even turn on. It is like it died or something. So frustrating. Anyone have tips?? I am thinking about just getting a regular coffee maker next time.

We have a problem with ours regulating the amount of water. If you brew a cup of coffee on the largest cup setting sometimes it will give you a full cup, sometimes 3/4 and sometimes 1/2 a cup.

I had the same problem with mine== it pours less then the amount it should. I have had mine for almost 2 yrs (this is the 3rd one - I replaced the other two - returning them back to kohl's when they stopped working). I called keurig. They had me clean the part that pierces the Kcup. We ran a brew and for the largest setting is poured less than a 1/2 cup and even less than that the next time. They said since they could not help me over the phone they were going to replace the keurig. Shipping it out (should arrive tomorrow). All I have to do is return a part of the machine to them in a small padded envelope. He says you have to descale it every 3 months and if you are going to be leaving it unused for a lenght of time descale it before you leave it and after you get back. Also stated to use filtered and bottle water only. We have city water. I purchased the vinegar at BJ's --- huge jug for $4ish. still have some left after doing 2 descaling with it.

This call to Keurig is soo much better than the first call I made years ago with the first one- I was literally on the phone with them for over an hour and they kept having me perform the same steps I had already done - I finally gave up and returned it to kohl's - no ?'s asked.

Hoping this one stays working better.

good luck!

Mine just arrived from Kohl's today (I am a Keurig newbie)! I am keeping this post in my file for future reference! :goodvibes

I had my first machine almost 2 years when it stopped working , I called Keurig and they sent me a new machine which I received 2 dauys later, After about a year the second machine started to short cup me. I called Keurig and they couldn't troubleshoot it so they sent me anew machine again. Each time they also sent me 4 boxes of coffee for my troubles.
Contact Keurig.... they have great customer service.

I just ordered one this weekend.

What is the descaling that everyone is talking about...think it has to do with vinegar?

Also, what kind of water should I use or buy at the store?

Old thread dug up for a second time....

Any case, when water is heated, the particles in the water (minerals) build up in the heating element. This also happens in a hot water tank. The vinegar is able to dissolve the scale and pass it through the system, cleaning it out.

I've been having problems lately getting my brewer to pour immediately. I'll wait for it to start up and heat the water (lights turn on), but it'll grind and make all sorts of funny noises and eventually it'll pour when it's darn good and ready too. I've never had the descale light come on, and I've never cleaned it before. But it's also not regularly used. Once the first cup is poured though, it'll work fine for the rest of the night. I hardly ever use k-cups, I just use it to brew a cup of tea with a tea bag. So the inside looks clean as a whistle. I just let it wait till finally pours the first cup, instead of messing with it.

I am having all kinds of trouble with my Keurig. It is 4 years old and has stopped working properly about 3 months ago. Each time I call customer service and they talk me through the descaling and troubleshooting and it will work for a few days or a week and then it stops again.

This time I think it is the pump. I guess I am at the point where I should probably just replace it, but I am wondering if I should just go back to the old fashioned coffee maker and save myself some cash.

How long should a 200 coffee maker last? I guess I am staisfied with 4 years? But not in a position to fork over another 200 at the moment.

My $169 Keurig has "lasted" for close to two years. Except that I have had 2 free replacements - LOL! The machines definitely have issues - but the fact that they have such good customer service makes it so it doesn't bother me. We bought ours April 2010, got a replacement around March 2011 (power died) and just got a 2nd replacement about a week ago (again power supply). We are always hard on coffee makers and always had to replace coffee makers after only a year or two - we drink a ton of coffee.

So to us - it's still been worth it. If you got 4 years out of your Keurig, I would think that is amazing for a Keurig. I would just buy a new one at this point.

I got a Keurig about 5 years ago and it stopped working in the fall--probably due to descaling and mineral build up, etc. The customer service folks were really nice--they had me try a couple of things and then offered me a couple different models through them (only via phone) at a really good price. They were "no hassle" offers--they said that the offers would be put on my account and I could think about it and call back if/when I was ready. I immediate price shopped and couldn't find either one of the models for what they offered (I'm sorry, but I can't remember exact prices...I ended up with the one that makes 3 different sizes but they offered the model up from that too for like $20 more). The prices included shipping. I didn't purchase my original Keurig from Keurig.com (I purchased from BB&B). I thought it was a really good deal. It is certainly worth a phone call if your machine is older and has stopped working!

Hope this helps!

Amy

We had our first one replaced because it was having issues with the pump. Then the replacement one just died recently. It turned out to be a blown transformer so dh took it apart and replaced it with the one from the original. He robbed a bunch of the electronic components and parts from the original so he can fix this one again if he feels like it
I love the convenience of the machine, and they do have good customer service however the design has been around for years with known problems, and the price of the machine just keeps going up. At some point I hope they try to work on coming up with one that doesn't have any problems. I mean, my Black and Decker $15 coffee maker lasted like 10 years before I replaced it (and it was still working), so I don't think its too much to expect a $100+ one to make it more than a few years :confused3

I think I finally figured out the solution to a clogged Keurig, so here goes. Mine quit working on a weekend, would not dispense at all, so I did the vinegar and paper clip deal. Then the descale light went on, still nothing. I decided to let it sit till Monday, trying every now and again to get it to work and using the paper clip as well. I was ready to turn it upside own and give it a spanking as one person suggested, when it finally did begin to dispense. I noticed LOTS of coffee grounds, so I kept pouring the vinegar through several times until I didn't see anymore grounds. Then I filled it with water and let it sit for 4 hours. I put a used kcup in and let the water run through several times to try to de-vinegarize it. Also, since the water sits in it all the time, I am trying to remember to unplug it, empty reservoir, tip and empty remaining water if I'm going to be gone for over a weekend. People who have the single serve mini brewer don't seem to have the scaling issue probably since it empties each time. If all else fails, call Keurig, even if it's out of warranty. I have read they will do all they can to help resolve your issue, including sending a new brewer, so youhave nothing to lose!

On a different note, any ideas on how to fix laptop keyboard...keys don't work unless you hit hard and slow...stickykeys not turned on, nothing spilled....thanks!

I have read all of these fixes and realized that people are trying to do things that don't matter to the solution.
The solution to ALL problems is the same.
Forget the cleaning tubes, vinegar, all of these other things.
I have had many problems with different systems through the years and once I found out what the problem was, the solution was ALWAYS the same one.
One time the problem was the Keurig wouldn't brew a full cup.
Another time, the Keurig would seem to get out of sinc and I would have to restart the Keurig by turning on the power button for it to go to the next step. (It was like the computer chip was screwed up on the task that it was supposed to perform)
The problems just went on and on.
But once I figured out what the problem was, it works every time to clear up the symptom.
Here it is:
For some reason, every operation that the Keurig does, depends on the float within the tank.
I suspect that it has to do with sediments in the water that crust up on the float in the tank.
Every 3 to 6 months, I have some issue with my Keurig, so I simple lift the water tank off of the side of the keurig. (There are two hooks that hold the tank on to the side of the machine) It easily slips off by raising it upwards and it slides off.
Then I pour the water out, fill it with a little water from the faucet, slosh it around vigorously several times so it cleans and frees up the float in the bottom of the tank. Dump it out and do it several times to be sure it is clean.
Replace it on the side of the machine.
Then fill it up and try it again.
It has worked for me EVERY time with no exception.
The float will no seat on the plug.
I have no idea why this works, but it always does. No exception!
Good luck.

If you can, buy it at costco.

I had the cuisinart brand for over two years. It stopped working. I misplaced the receipt and called costco in hope they kept copies. Plan was to contact cuisanart for repair

Costco said bring it back to them for a refund.

Our 2 year old Keurig stopped working last week. My DH called and they shipped us a new one. Didn't say anything about us trying to fix it. Makes me wonder if they really make their money from selling K cups and not the actual machines.
