Ketchikan Bering Sea Crab Tour

Yes I did this last year. I asked this question last year. You basically will walk down the pier. It is where the Princess ship will be earlier in the day. That is the only difference. This was the best tour. I am a huge deadliest catch fan. You do not have to tip anyone but I think there is a tip jar. I can not say enough good things. You can email them if you like and they do respond. I saved close to $30 by booking it ourselves. This tour will be complete full! It was sold out on the ship. We got there early and were on of the first ones to board to get covered seats. It was a bit chilly. They do have bathrooms and hot chocolate. They do have a store from everything from T shirts to coffee cups. If we do Alaska I would do the tour again. The boat was used in Season 2 or 3 of Deadliest Catch. It got damaged by a rogue wave and they decided to turn it into a tour boat. Have an awesome trip

We just did this on our May 24th Alaska Cruise. We booked it through their website (only because Disney charges Adult prices for 11 year olds)...we saved so much money. The crew is so friendly, and our kids had a bunch of hands-on time with the various sea creatures. They tell a bunch of stories, and it is very educational...makes you appreciate eating crab more. They took us close to this island and started throwing herring off the side of the vessel and about 100 or more eagles just showed up and it was amazing.

Like the previous poster said, you just walk down to Berth 3, and you board the vessel. We were one of the first families on and we got front row seats. They have heaters that they will turn on if it gets to cold, and they will pass out full length fleece lined jackets to anyone who wants one. Can't express enough how courteous and friendly this crew is.

I booked direct too. I was able to get the child price for my son as well. Only in Disney is a 10 year old an adult:confused3

How far is the walk from where the wonder docks? How far in advance did you book directly?

It is about a 10 minute walk. And we booked 3 months in advance. They only have 1 tour every day, so if you book it independently, you are going to be on the same excursion as the Disney group....just cheaper.

The tour is about Max of a 10 minute walk. I booked in March for July sailing. If you have early seating they will accommodate you. It is a great tour. I can't say enough good things about it.

MY DH is a HUGE deadliest catch fan. We however decided to book the VIP tour with Disney and got to tour the entire ship. It was AMAZING!!!!!

We booked through Disney. We were walked off the Wonder and over to the boat (about 10 minutes). As we walked, we were joined by people who had booked independently and by a group from another cruise ship. We all arrived at the boat together.

Some people will have purchased the VIP tour and dinner with the crew. They get to board first and have the first choice of seats. We had fallen towards the back of the pack and were among the last to board. We ended up on the top deck, which is not sheltered from the wind. Although they have heaters and pass out jackets and blankets, it is cold up there. Eventually we were able to move downstairs for about an hour.

My DD7 picked this excursion and we had a great time. It was the coldest 3 hours of our Alaska cruise though and I wish we had snagged a seat on the bottom level from the outset.

Don't fall to the back of the pack while you are walking to the boat!
